Penrith Panthers set to merge with another Sydney club

Told you all a merger was on the cards within the next 5 years. The Panthers have now taken the first step.

Don't for one minute believe anything Gould says to the contrary. This is the same bloke who with Michael Searle, told everyone the Titans were not in talks with the PNG government about selling games off. Remember that?

So, who will the Panthers merge with. I suspect the struggling Parramatta Eels. Makes sense don't you agree?
Western Sydney Panthers? Gould's taking no chances
May 18, 2012

Penrith supremo Phil Gould said the club had lodged a trademark application for ''Western Sydney Panthers'' as a ''safeguard'' for the future and has no plans to change its name. Gould revealed the club had also registered other names, including West Panthers, Western Panthers, and New West Panthers. The move ensures the club could use those names if they ever decided to expand beyond Penrith or merge with another Sydney club

You've been saying they'll merge within the next 5 years for over two years now beaussie. So can you please adjust your time frame accordingly?

How many times do i have to tell these idiots, Parramatta is the second biggest city in NSW after Sydney, there is no need to merge a city of that size with any other team. And if there was ever going to be a merger with Parramatta i am afraid it would turn out like St George Illawarra merger, it would be a total takeover.

Then why have Penrith trademarked those names? I'd hardly call that "insane". It's a bloody fact!

Needed to be said.

It's not as if Parramatta haven't considered a merger with Penrith in the past. Both clubs have form.

No desperation, Eel. Facts. How about you explain why Penrith have taken out trademarks, instead of doing your own clutching effort?

Welcome back AFL cheerleader, you give me your version of events and ill give you mine. Oh and when you give your version of events i would like you to back it up with proof of what you claim, thankyou and goodbye.

So once again ignoring the Fact that your leader  has pulled up a post from the Superleague wars?

Once again Beassie being tricky, works with the AFL zombies but not people who can see through your BS.

Are you denying the merger was considered at the time? That's the point here, Eel. Also, the only reason a club would register a trademark would be to use it - and the only way such names would work would be as part of a merger with either Parramatta or West Tigers - or maybe both! And it has to happen in three years because that is the life of a trademark.

So let's hear your explanation for Gould's proven actions in buying those trademarks.

Penrith is one of those teams that adds nothing to the competition.
They won't merge. They'll be consumed. Parramatta Panthers.

Western Sydney is one of the largest growing regions in Aus, if not the largest. Penrith just need some success and a bigger stadium and they'll be laughing.
