KE's Gold Coast Report

Howdy folks,

Well I'm back in sydney now but i've been staying at a fantastic resort whilst meeting fellow bigwigs on the GC for work the past few days.

I have to say, apart from on the television, i saw no evidence whatsoever of the sport of marngrook being played up there. It was league and more RL I saw. I know the more enlightened folk in here know that region is RL heartland but I thought i'd share the knowledge and intel i gained from being on the ground, on site at the goldcoast. Wherever me and colleagues travelled by hirecar or taxi there was no evidence of marngrook to be seen, just RL fields and people playing RL on them. Not even a marngrook singlet guernsey was to be seen by commoners walking on the street. I guess Khunts 3 million wasnt the best dollars the AFL could be spending.

Yes I'm not surprised by your factual information either there eels. I went out to the eels match last week, a shocking game really but a hefty turnout of committed folk. And while walking up the parramatta mall store upon store is filled with RL paraphernalia. Evidence of Marngrook is nowhere to be seen. Of course that's fine, GWS is only new but the AFL set them up as though there is a supporter base/or would be an instant supporter base as soon as they marched into town. Unfortunately for the AFL organisation this was a big arrogant mistake. After the frivolity and hype surrounding the opening match it is now a ghost town for Marngrook in Western Sydney. Even the FL team GWS is not based there. Shocking strategy, marred by the arrogance of an organisation with too much money and thickset rose coloured shades.

Yeah i was also at the game and came to late to get tickets, a lot of kids walking back with there parents that didn't get in looked shattered, i felt bad for the kids hey. And they think they will get the kids of Western Sydney to play AFL lol over there parents dead body  they would rather there kids play cricket or rugby before that happens.

Grounds missed by KE where AFL was being played on the Gold Coast last weekend;

Labrador V Gold Coast Reserves @ Cooke Murphy Reserve
http://www.whereis.com/qld/labrador/ash ... E957C80EFE

Broadbeach v Mount Gravatt @ H&A Oval (Broadbeach Sports and Recreation Centre)
http://www.whereis.com/qld/mermaid-wate ... 08F96041AC

Surfers Paradise v Springwood @ Bruce Small Oval
http://www.whereis.com/qld/benowa/carra ... 2A424E24CD

Bond Uni v Carrara @ Scottsdale Drive
http://www.whereis.com/qld/robina/prosp ... 5C46913D8A

In other words, he didn't look seriously - as per usual for an AFL hater and thugby lover.

(Note - the scores for the last two games aren't available yet. Labrador won by 12 points and Broadbeach won by 78 points.)

Needed to be said.

Hey thanks TLPG. But of course I know there's Marngrook being played up there you silly buffoon. I'm just saying it is not very present, front and centre you know. This is the same as in Sydney. As a player I know many of the grounds here in sydney and surprisingly there's more than you'd think. But these grounds are almost always tucked away out of sight and on the fringes of society. You're exactly right above you "seriously" have to look for the marngrook fields. The RL fields are established and central to the community, you'll see them when you're not looking for them, which makes the GC RL Heartland.

I think that needed to be said, dont you TLPG?

No. Because you have no idea as usual. Even in Victoria venues aren't on the main roads by and large.

So shut up.

How's about you stop being so bitter TLPG. I often support what you say, on the few occasions you say something valid. I think you have a nasty case of sour grapes and need some reprimanding. Is this all stemming from the time we had you removed as mod for your terrible dictatorial behaviour? Or is it from my absolute dominance of the arcade, something which you hated with a passion?

You cant just come in here with your crappy posts of. "no you have no idea as usual, shu'up" and barely make a point. Its poor form and even Xman would acknowledge that. Atleast pick up your levels of abuse or something. If you cant handle the heat in the kitchen, then you should mosie on back to your self inflicted banning from the fightclub.

Now what I'm saying is the truth. RL was well and truly established in GC and Sydney prior to marngrooks arrival, and therefore RL has all the best grounds and facilities. Thus the sport is much more prominent in communities in these areas. Only a fool would argue against this, only a fool. :-$

And again, poor form earlier TLPG. [-X

BULL! And I proved it when I said that not all grounds in VICTORIA are on main thoroughfares! AFL heartland!

Besides, I said you weren't looking. Check Surfers Paradise again. That IS on a main thoroughfare! The main road through Benowa!

I said you have no idea, because you don't.

That's that.

Main thoroughfares is not what I'm talking about. It's about being central to the community. AFL ovals and clubs just arent in sydney and the gc and that's just the facts. You can cry all you like in here but you're only shaming yourself. We all know RL was established first and takes prominence in these cities, and the communities of these cities.

Yours Sincerely,

King-Eliagh: All Time Greatest Arcade Champ, Undefeated 2005 -Present <<< and thats the facts too! Stuff it up yer pipe and smoke it in TLPG :thumbleft:

Central to the community huh? Look at the size of three of the four AFL venues I told you about. They take up large pockets of land, and that's practical because an AFL Oval is bigger than a thugby field. The fact is there ARE clubs that play our great game in both Sydney and on the Gold Coast - including Southport (who were playing away to Aspley on the weekend). You know Southport? The club that would have got the GC license and done well because they are a rich club. I'll bet in fact that they have more turnover than the Titans!! Pretty good for a local team!

You are shaming yourself, because I'll bet the crowds at Labrador, Broadbeach and Surfers were bigger than any of the crowds you saw at the thugby venues!

This thread reminds me of the silly thread made by Dogs when he was apparently in Adelaide in a taxi looking for football grounds.

TLPG you're dribbling here. How does any of that dribble you wrote relate to central to the community? There's a large patch of land out penrith way too but that doesnt mean its central to sydney. #-o

I think you're a beaten man on this topic TLPG. :)

And beaussie, you're pictures are completely biased. One could easily take snaps of both teams which indicate the exact opposite of what you've found. Nice try, but completely invalid evidence there. You may as well delete your post as its really quite silly when you think about it. :o

I prefer photographic evidence over the opinions of you anyday.
