Idiot! Does a cricketer hit a six every shot? A basketballer average 100% from general play? A soccer player goal every time?

When RL players can do more than throwing and catching uncontested 5m passes let me know. Even then they drop some. But of course if they drop it and it goes backwards its all good!
your mob can't even get them from 20m out infront ..& from a marks.. so from set shots uncontested
.. similar to a penalty in soccer
or a free throw in basketball

do they give soccer players or basketball players anything if they miss ?

nope

VFL.. an f'ing joke

No 20 meters out is what the NRL players kick from, plus they do it with a designated kicker. That's the pinnacle of kicking skill in RL yet it's about the easiest score in AFL.

Well, if a cricketer aims for a six and falls short he scores a 4 or even a single if it's fielded.

If a RL player aims to beat a tackle and gets caught he gets another chance, again and again! Failure rewarded right there!

and yet.... feebleballers still miss ... ova & ova
its hilarious

they miss shots a blind 110 year old mongolian grandmother would nail
& what has being tackled got to do with scoring shots you half wit ****
a comparison for RL would be a player dropping the ball over the line with no defenders infront of him

rarely happens in RL
VFL players would be doing it 6 times a game

NRL players can still ground the ball ingoal with 4 defenders driving them over the touch ingoal line ... theres examples over 99% of an RL players body being in the air ... & outside the field of play ... & they still plant it where they are supposed to

same can't be said for these clowns in singlets

In RL a designated kicker kicks a ball that is placed on the 20metre line. in afl, given there is a man standing the mark, thats like the best afl forward kicking goals from the end of the goal square! oh the skill!!

Conversion rates from 10metres out would be extremely high in the AFL, and that's considering the teams don't have a designated kicker.

What sort of sport has a scoring option where falling over a line the width of the field is considered a skill? #-o

Every team sport has offensive and defense. Team ball sports require skills when passing and receiving. RL use the most basic of all: a short throw to an unmanned player, and a dive to place it on the ground to score.

Big difference. ARs players have a defender contesting their catch and ensuring the pass is accurate to its turned over. And RL? Nudda. They need to make a rule to turn the ball over.

This convo is becoming fairly pisspoor although amusing. There's skills in both sports which differ. So lets get a bit more specific.

In terms of agility and running skills, RL has it by far. Players like billy slater are testament to this fact as is the smaller ground and tighter defensive line in RL. Side stepping, goose steps, directional changes, explosive speed off the mark are all common place in the entire RL backline and many forwards. Remember also that agility is a skill which involves performing in tight spaces.

In terms of taking overhead marks Marngrook has it, although RL wingers nowadays take magnificent marks that most marngrook players could only dream about. But overall you'd have to take the marngrookers here.

In terms of tackling its RL by a mile.

In terms of fending off defenders RL again by a mile.

In terms of kicking RL halves display more skill and creativity in their kicking than pretty much all marngrookers, who really only use the drop punt and slight variations of the drop punt for 96.53% of their kicks. But all marngrookers develop a good kick. Even so though, with the amazing diversity and creativity displayed by RL halves and increasingly other backs and forwards in this area RL wins on kicking. Drop and punt is a skill but its only ONE kicking skill. Leaguies can and often perform a ridiculous variety of kicks with pinpoint accuracy. Its amazingly skillful so eat those apples afl bitches

In terms of ball handling skills RL offers a variety of passes including flick passes, cut out passes, offloads, no look passes, overhead passes etc etc. Marngrook offers a fair few skills in this dept too including bounce passes, a variety of cut out style passes, fumbling the ball so it goes the way they want it to (tough to admit but it is a bit of a skill at times raider, albeit akin to a toddler following a ball after pushing it) Overall though this ones close, it must go to RL as the skills must be fine tuned in order to pull them off in the very tight spaces in which they continually need to conduct them. Again marngrook on the large expansive ground requires less "skill" in this area.

So there's the analysis folks. RL wins on skill factor, quite comfortably. No wonder more families sit down to watch this sport on the tele week in, week out. On a side note please keep in mind the transition of NRL players to the AFL comp. It's never gone the other way round and although I diss khunt, I'm really dissing the AFL for its ridiculous payment of a known golddigger. khunt and izzy will make it in the end. I dont think we'll ever see it go the other way round and this is due to the increased skills required in RL, as I highlighted above.

Have a nice day chaps. :)

Every game has mistakes, especially those where dirct opponents mean advancing requires accurate passing and fast ball movement.

None of these things apply to RL, yet they still manage to make mistakes! #-o

yet even when theres open spaces

VFL players still miss from running shots ... & set shots ... & still fumble & still bumble with no one near them

RL players are faster ... stronger & are just a lot more skilled

yes so in essence E

its hard to actually find any skills relating to ball games
where VFL players are superior to RL players

they are really quite ordinary at the basics
sums it up quite well

Further evidence you don't play or know anything about ARs

RL kicking is generic. Do they aim for a particular player with a direct opponent? No. They toss it up and the rest is up to the player. What is the percentage of successful kicks to a teammate in RL? Must be minuscule. ARs players kick with both feet, low, high, right to left, left to right, from one step and while sprinting full pace. The comparison is absurd!

The only remote ball handling skill in RL is a short throw and catch, all without the pressure of an opponent! Laughable really.

Speed and agility wise both codes have decent players. Alhough a significant proportion of RL forwards would be luck to side step a drunk. They're fat and immobile.

And if you think that RL is winning the ratings war you've got your head in the sand. It's over already. The afl are winning every week by about a million, dodgy regionals included.

So do RL players kick with either foot? Do they specifically pass to a player who has an opponent, and hit them the majority of the time? Does the entire team kick? Does the entire team kick for goal? Do they kick further than about 30 meters?

I would say no to all these.

Seriously, there are what about 50kicks in a full RL game at most? There are many hundreds of kicks in a afl game. Yes the majority a drop punts but a proportion are across the body from left to right and right to left, from either foot, high and skimming the ground low, or rolling end of end along the ground.

If you honestly believe they are comparable you really are stupid! #-o
