Dear oh my, MElbourne demons have thankfully cut ties with their major sponsor who has been spouting racist sexist remarks on his facebook page. My question? How did this man get employed? And what is it with the AFL attracting racist types into their organisation?
Its just one slur after the other and I for one am sick of it.
Lets all get together as one talking footy community and write a letter to the AFL expressing our disgrace at their continued and ongoing employment of racist gits. Seriously, the AFL can gloat all it likes about Aboriginal Employment Strategies and their 'feel good Indigenous work' but if they're not able to have employment strategies to ensure that white racist dumbfukks dont get employed then whats the point?

For shame

"The board of the Melbourne Football Club today met to consider its sponsorships with EnergyWatch and Freedom SEO," the Demons said in a statement.
"The comments made by their CEO are disgraceful and abhorrent.
"The club has terminated these sponsorships, effective immediately."
The deal was reportedly worth $2 million per year to the Demons.

Good to see Melbourne act swiftly. I wonder how Melbourne Victory in the A-League will respond?

Yes Beaussie as I said thankfully melb have cut ties. But I want and expect better of the AFL in this. Where's the policy for the whities? Where's the exmployment strategy that ensures all australians dont have to hear the racist smut being spoken by those being paid large salaries by the AFL?
Beaussie would you as admin of this site be happy to sign the letter if i draft it for you on behalf of the members?

The same company sponsor a RU team and an A league team. Writing a letter to all these comps too?
The AFL cannot control what people say on Facebook. All they can do is act appropriately. I would say they have done so in this case, wouldn't you?

No the letter goes to the AFL because this organisation has a history of employing racists. Cutting this man from the books is appropriate Xman but as i said its only half the job. The AFL clearly have to rethink their employment strategy and aim to put plans in place to move towards ensuring they dont employ any more racist gits. I would say its not good enough to simply sack these staffers after they have tarnished the code, wouldn't you?

this company was a sponsor for RU, A league and AFL teams. Are they all racist too?
What history are you talking about? dipper? There's one, even though he has close personal indigenous friends who basically said his comments were in jest and only taken the wrong way because they were delivered to a public audience.

The AFL just had another staffer claiming they wouldnt recruit any Indigenous players who didnt have a white parent. This is harking straight back to the stolen generation years and also isnt on. I'm saying the AFL is employing racists you dumb turkey Xman. The RU and A league should follow suit but its the AFL that is, as the title says Xman, "embroiled in racism YET AGAIN".

So you totally misread that story didn't you.
Matt Rendell has been involved in the AFL for over 30years. His comments were meant to highlight the difficult transition for indigenous players coming from rural and isolated indiginous communities to the very structured life of the AFL.
Andrew McLeod, an indigenous AFL player and outspoken member of the indigenous community completely supported his club as non racist.
ADELAIDE'S greatest indigenous player, Norm Smith medallist Andrew McLeod, has defended the Crows' reputation, insisting racism is not part of the AFL club.
McLeod also dismissed the image of racism against Matthew Rendell, the Crows' national recruiting manager who was forced to resign on Friday amid the shame of racial discrimination.
"If this was the case - and if I had an inkling my club was racist - I would not have spent 16 years within that establishment," said McLeod, who joined the Crows in 1995 and played 340 AFL games after Adelaide traded aggressively to secure the NT-born star from Fremantle.
Declaring he is "very shattered" by the Crows being tainted as racists, McLeod says he will not pass judgment on Rendell before the former SANFL-VFL ruckman publicly explains the philosophy of drafting Aboriginal players only if they had one white parent.

That's poor reporting and typical of you to scrummage up this filth Xman. Rendell's comments were innapropriate no matter which angle you look at them from and McLeod shows he was unaware of racism but does not at all

Rendells comments were certainly innapropriate but I don't believe they were intended to be racist, just highlight a problem. However he paid the ultimate price. A racist organization would not have acted so strongly IMO.
Andrew McLeod said he would never have stayed at the club if he had seen even an inkling of racism. I would say that isn't just support for them, it's strong support!

Xman stop being so defensive, where did I state the AFL as a "racist organisation"? You need to understand that what the AFL does is akin to cure being better than prevention. They need to put processes in place to stop these bumkin trailer park trash racists being employed.
And you're comments about McLeod are off context, as usual. For shame that you cannot read the context of his comments Xman, for shame.

McLeod absolutely claims he has not seen any racism at the club where this comment was made. That is supporting his club as a non racist organization. The comments context has been explained and although wrong, was not intended to be racist.
