The Canberra Raiders announced this morning a two-year sponsorship deal with Chinese technology giant Huawei worth approximately $1.7 million.

The Canberra Times understands the sponsorship deal will include incentives that could extend the partnership to four years and be worth even more towards the back end of the deal.

Having played the first four rounds without a major sponsor, the Raiders are set to don the sponsor on their jerseys for the round five match against the North Queensland Cowboys at Canberra Stadium on Monday night.

Huawei has also been blocked by the Australian Federal Government from tendering for business involved with the National Broadband Network, allegedly following warnings from ASIO.

850k eh?

I thought the Raiders were saying they wouldn't undersell their sponsorship. No choice in the end it seems as no one else was interested besides a Chinese company our Federal Government, ASIO and the CIA states shouldn't be trusted.
