What a dope!
Collingwood, like other AFL clubs, have fans who travel. I know this is foreign to the NRL but some fans like to go interstate to watch their teams play.
The crowd last night was higher than any NRL home and away game in Sydney for 3 years, and 3 times the NRls Friday night "call to arms" in the west of Sydney effort!

so.... more Collinsford fans were prepared to travel 800K's
then goose fans (25k's)
or midgit fans
ah... 5K's
VFL in Sydney ... all ova it

AFL in Sydney is over, but can draw a crowd 3 times the size of RL in its own heartland!?
Collingwood fans travel. Swans v Collingwood, Essendon or Carlton are big games for Sydney, achieving crowds the NRL in Sydney could only dream of.
But in reality the swans draw about 25k of their own fans for most matches, and up to 35k for big matches. The rest will be opposition fans. last nights game was a giants home games so many swans members would not have gone since admission isn't included in their membership.
I would say 15k would have been Giants fans. This is a number that shames NRL teams!

15K eh ?
so
we'd be expecting a sellout in 3 weeks when they play their 2nd home games at Blacktown then ?
it only holds 10K
so they'd be nearing a sellout already wouldn't they ?
its assured isn't it Marcus ?

As Xman points out. The AFL gets crowds in Sydney that are more than 3 times bigger than the average in the NRL.
RL heartland
