Point proven again with a live NRL broadcast yesterday on Channel 9 in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
NRL Grand Final replay in fact.
Abysmal ratings continue as you can see.
Melbourne - 56,000
Adelaide - 10,000
Perth - 13,000
http://www.talkingfooty.com/tv_ratings_2012.php
And the NRL talks of a new team in Perth.

Abysmal crowds and tv ratings for the NRL season opener. Well down on both fronts right across the country.

midday kickoff in Melbourne
11.30 in adelaide
9am in Perth
that 56,000 in Melbourne ( no Storm playing ) was bigger then 50% of Swans games .... played at far better times then midday in Sydney
& bigger then............ 75% of all VFL games shown in Sydney not involving the Swans
wow
what a great result ....
proof definitive our game is a hit
just put it on .... even at stupid times like midday
& people still watch

will be up by over a staggering 30% on rnd 1 last year by the end of the round
good lord
just when you think this game can't do any better ...... it seems it can & does
its just through the roof
crowds affected by rain & no Broncos rnd 1 game like most years
rnd 2 to make up the difference

The only reason it will be up on last year is they had a thrusday and friday game in primetime instead of 2 friday night games! Simple Otherwise it was well down!
Plus the crowds were down significantly. Could be the lowest rnd 1 crowd total for 10 years!
Plus the live showdown 'blockbuster' on FTA between last years GF teams rated a disgraceful 439k despite being live across Australia and leading in to the cricket which rated over 1M!!!
Channel 9 must be shaking their heads at how they have been fooled in to showing this crap nation wide! Nice work just before your negotiations!
And Melbourne might have rated 59k but only because the game lead into the cricket, involved the warriors so it appealed to Victorian Kiwis, and was not up against another sport. Imagine it against the AFL like it will be in a few weeks!!
But best of all the NRL nation wide involving the best 2 teams could only manage 20th on the ratings list for the day! 20th!!!!

Man you're an idiot Dave!
Last year your second FN game only had ratings of 390k, therefore it never made regional TAMs top list. Therefore you never counted any regional audience in your figures.
This year you played a TH and FN game live in primetime. Both were creditied with 600k regional figures (

) plus the extra 300k people who saw it live. You also had a game shown live across the nation this year. Last year you did not. That went well didnt it.
See the difference yet?

You must have had a shocker last year then. This yrs round one was very underwhelming for the NRL! They whinge repeatedly to be shown nationally and then they get the reality check they deserve!
