NRL tried to copy AFL and failed when they took this long to realise they had the best system in the first place. It took the NRL until 2012 to recognise the better system even after using it before.

I actually don't know what system the VFL use. But the NRL are certainly copying almost everything the AFL are doing at the moment.

Wow, and here i was thinking the nrl did actually copy the afl's system. Well that's what i'd been led to believe by the ever corrupting ill advising afl drongos.

Thanks raiderdave for informing me that nrl actually had this system first and therefore own it, and that the afl actually copied it for the betterment of their code flattery indeed. It also goes to show the nrl take initiative and even when they have a great system they're ready to explore potential for other ways and not ashamed to return if those other ways dont work as good. Real initiative.

I wonder what the afl will copy next? Perhaps the indigenous all stars match? Or I heard murmerings there's thoughts of trying an nrl inspired SOO concept. And we all know the afl has been trying to copy the nrls amazing international success but alas the name of the sport lets em down each and everytime. Australian Rules Or even worse AFL whats that? A sport or a registered organisation? It sure as hell cant be both!

The afl adopted this finals system probably around the time they expanded to a top 8 i would think. The NrL have seen the AFL using a far better system than they were using and copied!

The NRL have also copied SOO, membership drives including marketing strategies, the Independant commission....etc etc..

Why the hell would the AFL want to copy the NRL at anything? Why would they want to follow the lead of a competition with poor crowds, little tradition, poor facilities, no loyalty, out of control violence, little money, poor membership numbers....etc etc?
