Oh dear. What a shocker of a crowd for the NRL last night in Perth.

This crowd is representative of the support for RL in WA.

Good luck NRL. :(/ :(/ :(/

If it weren't for the fact that this was a heavily publicised match (really over-the-top stuff) and in a rl-starved state and the WARL has been promoting this as reason for a WA team.

Not just a practice match.

GWS would be looking towards round 1 against the Swans as the main attraction.

There are 2 teams in Sydney already.

Perth RL fans should have come out in force to see this game because their opportunities to see their sport are limited. Even cairns turned up to the Suns v Tigers in decent numbers. If this crowd is indicative of the level of support Perth has for RL then expansion there would seem disastrous. Hardly surprising though given the complete lack of grass roots RL in Australia's fourth biggests capital city.

The AFL have never pulled big crowds for practice matches because they are never promoted like the NRL promote theirs. So AFL practice match crowds mean zero. The NAB Cup may say something though.

It's a trial match you clown. Half the teams were premier league squads anyway. The real indicator will be when souffs vs the broncos

this
we'll see what GWS can muster up next week at Blacktown
& unlike in Perth on Sat nite ...at least they'll be the local side in action & the world famous Melbourne suburb of Collinsford
& its not even a trial .. they're playing for something

so I'd easily expect the sold out sign up & thousands turned away from this relatively .. small venue

bearsy

is this what we can expect ? :-k

cos I'm gunna go ape cr@p if its not the case

lame as per usual

a Sellout at Blacktown with hordes not being able to get in should be the minimum we can expect surely for the tsunami's first shots in anger
I mean come on.. ..the suspense & build up would be culpable in Western Sydney in anticipation ... wouldn't it ? :-k

8-[

crickets chirping

You lot coined the term tsunami led by Mark Geyer.

As for the crowd for the NAB Cup, I can't even see where to get tickets on the GWS website. Disappointing that little promotion seems to have been put into it. All the focus appears to be on Round 1 of the AFL H&A season against the Swans. That game is going to be huge. Huge I tell ya.
