Broncos in last place in the membership numbers battle in QLD.
RL heartland?
THE trophy-glow of the Queensland Reds has spiked a massive fourfold increase in membership in just two years and fuelled the bold aim of beating the Brisbane Broncos at the turnstiles in 2012.
Queensland Rugby Union chief executive Jim Carmichael is unapologetic for the lofty goal because it is backed by the record numbers (26,196) who have already swooped on membership packages.

"Last year we had a crowd average of 35,000 yet only 16,000 of those were members. Our aim for future years is that a great majority of our crowd will be members."
From 2004 to 2011 the Broncos increased membership numbers dramatically, from 6201 to 16,088.
A strategy focusing on budget options and greater advertising spend drove the increase, which jumped significantly during the last three seasons.
"We are aiming for 20,000 members this year and we are already up 1300 on last year's January figure with more than 90 per cent of our members being season ticketholders," Reader said.
Can the Lions say that??? NO. they are down thousands of members.
The Broncos still have their fan day to come and the NRL are currently running a membership premiership which will see a major boost to their number.

Also that Broncos total is from the beginning of the week. Come Monday the Lions will be in last place.

I'd be more worried about the Lions. Their membership numbers have continued to drop why the Broncos have increased every year.
The Reds should have the most members considering they represent the entire state.

Why? Still more members than the Broncos despite an awful on field performance last season. What's the Broncos excuse for being well behind the Reds and Lions in membership numbers? In so called RL heartland too.
Oh and don't give us that rubbish about memberships being new to RL fans. Membership is a new concept for RU fans too, yet hasn't stopped the Reds gathering huge membership numbers.

But they also had a good year last year. The lions have been near bottom for years now

The Broncos are also able to turn a profit which neither the Lions or Reds currently do.
The Lions can't even do it with the hundreds of pokie machines they have at their social club.

Still, the fact is that the Reds have nearly twice the number of members as the Boncos.

The Queensland Reds represent the entire state the Broncos don't.
The Lions numbers are bad. They should be embarrassed of their membership total considering how high it was in the past and the fact they draw support from two different cities.
