Gees, those RL players look to be struggling to keep up. My god they look well and truly fucked on what is probably the first lap.

Hardly surprising though.
A few years back in a roy Masters piece a sports dr for the swans Dr Gibbs, who was also an ex RL roosters player, said "The Storm are encouraging Inglis to run two kilometres a game. In AFL, he must run 14km"
If one of their better players only runs 2kms per game these guys running their first lap around an oval must be basically running half their entire games distance in one burst!
Athletes!

LOL
I wonder if those Swans boys would look so .... " chipper " .. after a full opposing session against Warrington
they wouldn't be able to run ... at all
with dislocated shoulders ... broken ribs ... & spinal injuries
would they ?

I'm sure the warrington players would have been tackling their hearts out after a few laps. Not!
That's their full game distance run right there.

.. ah the ignorance
5 mins of full opposing .. just 5.. for the Swans
they'd have ... 3 in ambulances heading to St Vincents
3 more getting smelling salts
3 more asking their teams mates if they got the number of the bus that hit them
these scrawny flogball sheilas would jump the fence at the 7th minute mark .. they'd of had enough of the brutality
& resume their fumbling ... bumbling .. & missing

Yeah because AFL players aren't used to crunching contacts! That's what they get almost every time they back into a marking pack!

You know nothing about the toughness of AFL players, Dave. Oh sure the NRL boys may be tough. But our boys are just as tough! And as the pic proves we are fitter!

Having played both sports I can tell you now Dave is much more accurate than the AFL posters. Yes a mark in a pack means contact but, its soft contact in compariso. Being tackled in RL over and over is often like being hit and then mauled by a few bears, and thats often. Doing the hitting is much nicer but its still an impact you've gotta make. AFL, is about going for the ball, league is about hitting the bloke and getting him on the deck. Much tougher contact in league you silly goons.
Beaussies right though, they look fukkked in that run

Doesnt mean they are not supreme athletes, and the guys at the back of the snap arent prob the fittest players of league.

they would sh.it their pants out in the middle of an RL game
seriously
they wouldn't know what hit them .... you may get a hard knock in AR ... & be lucky to see another that game
in RL
it is constant .. it is consistent ... it is relentless
you can be a skinny scrawny middle distance track n field athlete .. as AFL players are
but with a frame like that , you could not stand up to the pyshicality of league as you don't have the build to continually absorb the punishment
case closed

Case FAR from closed! If your comment was sent out to the Swans and Giants playing roster, you'd be laughed all the way over the Blue Mountains!! I think Kevin Sheedy should set up a challenge to see who survives. Our blokes would last longer that most of the NRL guys.

last in what you f.uckknuckle
a series of 400m runs
800's
your scrawny lady boys would probably win those ... they wouldn't win anything else
Rexona's greatest athlete TV show exposed AFL players as the most over rated bunch of girls in Aus sport
they are un-co ... slow ... weak .... & thats the end of the story
here ends the debate

On second thoughts looking at this picture, if we simply reversed the position of the teams, if the swans players were at the back, they'd look just as buggered. Your illusion has been busted Beaussie!

The teams are just running in separate packs.
Throw it in the BS file Xman, this ones got man who cried wolf written alllll over it.

I'm suggesting this picture is an illusion and tells little.
If you want to discuss things as broadly as "runnning capabilities" though I'd say yes RL players definitely have similar and at times superior "running capabilities". The RL backline would have some players who woud have similar running endurance levels to many aussie rules players. The majority of the RL backline them would be able to run a sprint equal to or quicker than many AR players. And the vast majority of RL backs would have far superior agility than the majority of AR players.

agreed E
no question our outside backs would be quicker then most AR players ...
its an exlposive power required in RL for our running
these long necked geese in AFL lope along like un-co giraffes....
as Rexonas greatest athlete has proven ... they've got nothing
I wonder who their " super star " will be for this season's show
which giggleball star is gunna be upstaged in 2012...........by every other code ... & sport in Oz .. including Diving & car racing drivers

..
