Just an update for the window watcher.

http://www.canadarugbyleague.com/site/e ... p?id=10173
The match between the rival nations drew a television audience of over one million viewers, whilst they also take part in an annual showpiece against Jamaica as part of their commitment as an official partner to the Caribbean Carnvial Toronto, one of the biggest street festivals in North America that guarantees similar viewing figures, attendances and grosses half a billion dollars over one weekend.
Hmmm, not bad for a sport that was resurrected only two seasons ago huh?

Canada RL finished the season with 4 Internationals this season and all were on FTA TV with excellent coverage on Canada's biggest morning show.

The more Internationals they played, the bigger the crowds were, not bad for a comp that started off 18 months ago.

(Toronto) The Canada Wolverines enthralled the 7,200 strong crowd that came to witness the Wolverines claw back from two big deficits to overcome the USA Tomahawks 36 – 20.

The match started with the usual fireworks expected when the two countries collide. Both teams traded blows for the first 5 minutes before an out-of-nowhere try was scored by USA second rower Ben Sadgrove. It was a fine try from Sadgrove who burst past a would-be Canada defender, before showing good speed and a nice step to pass by fullback Robin Legault to score a 50 metre solo try. Hooker Craig Priestly converted the try to make it 6 – 0 to USA.

The Wolverines were next to score when a pinpoint Steve Piatek cross-field kick saw winger Tony Felix leap above his opposite to pluck the ball from the air and crash over in the corner. An unsuccessful Piatek conversion took the score to 6 – 4 after 16 minutes. It wasn't long until the Tomahawks took the upper hand capitalizing from Canada’s mistakes with tries to Priestly and Mike Schacter within 3 minutes of each other. Priestly converted his own try but failed on Schacter’s, taking the Tomahawks to a commanding 16 – 4 lead after 25 minutes.

It was the fresh legs of Canada prop Enoch Wamalwa that started to provide some much needed go forward for the Wolverines, and when livewire reserve Joe Bangay entered the field, he made an immediate impact darting over from close range. With Piatek's successful conversion, the Wolverines went into the half time break within a converted try 16 – 10 down.

The second half began much like the first with both teams again going toe to toe until a Wolverine fumble20 metres from their own line paved the way for USA winger Taylor Welch to score a simple try in the corner. The sideline conversion was unsuccessful giving the Tomahawks a 20 – 10 lead after 52 minutes.

A costly Tomahawk mistake allowed the Wolverines to creep back into the game when, yet again, another fresh legged Wolverine, Geoff Bylund, was able to profit from a long cut out pass from Piatek to go over untouched adjacent to the posts. Piatek slotted the conversion to bring the score to 20 – 16. Just three minutes later, young British Columbia debutant, Adam Timler, made a great break down the sideline running 40 metres before being stopped just short of the line. It did not matter however, as Tony Felix crashed over from dummy half on the next play. A successful pressure cooker conversion by Piatek gave the Wolverines their first lead of the match 22 -20.

Buoyed by their lead and the enormous support from the raucous fans, the Wolverines just could not be stopped from here as a Dobbs pass found centre Christian Miller who scored under the posts untouched. Just three minutes later and the Wolverines were at it again when a sweeping backline play would hit Legault who scored in the corner. Piatek missed the latter conversion to take Canada to a 32 – 20 lead at the 65th minute.

There was plenty of time for the Tomahawks to hit back, but the humid conditions was taking its toll with both sides failing to control the ball for the next 10 minutes. With little time remaining, it looked like the Wolverines would seal the match with another debutant try to Craig Leveridge only for it to be dubiously called back for a forward pass. It did not matter however, as a dropped ball from the USA scrum allowed Adam Timler to shimmy and shake his way to the try line to the raptures of the crowd. The Wolverines taking out game one of the Colonial Cup 36 – 20.

This leaves Canada up 1-0 in the series with game 2 scheduled for August 24th in the USA before game 3 back at Lamport Stadium on September 28th.
Canada's next challenge comes July 20th when they take on Jamaica at Lamport Stadium. Click here for tickets

An update.

http://www.canadarugbyleague.com/site/e ... p?id=10232
Toronto) The Canada Wolverines notched their second successive victory to open the 2013 test season with a convincing performance against a very tough and physical Jamaican side. Over 5700 fans were treated to a 6 try haul from Canada in what was a magical night of Rugby League.
The home side was first to strike. Three minutes into the encounter crafty veteran hooker Chris Diamond broke the seal with a dummy scoot that fooled the Jamaican defensive line. For Diamond it was his first try since scoring against Jamaica in last years Caribbean Carnival Cup. Play was back and forth for the next few minutes before Jamaica conceded a penalty in front of the posts. Goal kicking wizard Steve Piatek made no mistake slotting home the two pointer to make it 8-0 to the home side. Jamaica brought a level of toughness that was previously unseen in previous fixtures with Canada. This toughness paid off as 10 minutes later they opened their account. Sheffield Eagles centre Corey Hanson went over in the corner to half the deficit. The game then began see sawing with both sides threatening but unable to break through. Christian Miller was particularly effective on defence wearing down the Jamaicans with punishing tackles. It was only a matter of time before Canada would score again and they did. Steve Piatek scoring his first International try finishing a period of dominant attacking play from Canada. Piatek was at it again, this time turning provider as he and Matt Wyles started a quick flowing move that was finished by fullback Robin Legault who added to his Canadian international try record notching his 11th try in his 11th appearance for his country. This made the score 20-6 Canada and that is how the first half finished.

The second half was more of the same from the Wolverines but it started brightly for the Reggae Warriors. Speedy winger Adrian Mckenzie opened the scoring 5 minutes after the restart to give the Jamaicans hope. Canada however would not hang their heads or lose momentum. As they were next to cross the line when Brett King finished a flowing move in the corner, notching his first International try. From one winger to another, ten minutes later it was Tony Felix who continued his impressive performances scoring for the second match in a row finishing in the corner for the Wolverines. Robert Rodney then managed one more try for the Jamaicans before Geoff Bylund put the finishing touches on what was Canada's third successive Caribbean Carnival Cup victory when he scored in the corner at the stroke of full time. Bylund's try along with Piatek's perfect kicking capped off a fantastic victory for Canada.

Again the Canadians beat their previous best crowd against Jamaica, well done Canada, you seem to be flying up the international ladder with not only your results on the pitch, but those off it. Well done.

These are the remaining International games the Canadians play this season.

http://www.canadarugbyleague.com/site/e ... d=10010001

Next game is against the United States in Philadelphia followed by the first ever match between Canada and Norway in Toronto followed by another home game against the United States.

Looking forward to seeing if the Canadians beat their record crowd again against the Tomahawks again and seeing what type of turnout they get against the Norwegians. Have read there are a lot of people from Norway living in Canada, hopefully it goes off with a bang and they make it an annual fixture.

Wow, hasn't this thread turned to shit for the Vfl fanboys in this last page?

I just had a look through it again and I must say that a few of you knob jockeys were pretty damn confident there for a while, but wow, what a smack down this last page turned into, even better than I first thought when cos started it =D>

And yet no 1, not 1 pic, video, match report with scores, goals, attendances, sponsors not nothing from the Vfl cheer squad that started it trying to lord it over Rugby League, and as usual, it backfired on the dopes spectacularly.

So, is cos789 going to concede Canada like he has had to with just about every other nation he has put up?

Might go and check out a few of his threads he started here and give them a bump for old times sake, never know, the Vfl might've caught up lol.
