according to the odds for rnd 1 of both codes

the average favourite in the AFL in round one $1.43
the outsider $4.14
in the NRL .. $1.62 for the favourite
the outsider $2.30
AFL ... a lopsided , uninteresting snorefest

A fair summation here Raiderdave. Looks like a close season coming up once again for the NRL. Last year the AFL was fairly abysmal in comparison. I hope it gets better but kinda think it will take a while with the new teams and the tanking culture. What do the AFL fans think? There has to be some big decisions the AFL could take that could fix this situation... but its got me stumped

Fix what? It shows that the punters in the AFL know more about the game than the NRL punters know about theirs. It's also a reflection on the lower scores in rugby league. How about the odds in the A-League right now? I'll bet they're just as close, even though it's far from a popular competition.
There's no problem. At all. The title of this thread is misleading.

Yes there is NSWAFL. Many AFL folk would agree with me and have in the media re the tanking and lopsided games. Its gotta be addressed not ignored. If any other AFL supporters who care for the wellbeing of their code out there could comment? Please do.

It shows the AFL is a higher scoring game where the team that plays better has a greater chance of winning.
RL is a low scoring game, where a team can win by a stroke of luck or a poor ref call.
I know which I'd prefer.
