Whilst you guys hide behind a jumper thrown at the US president who was utterly confused. The British Parliament Rugby League Group were honouring one of the greatest Aboriginal sportperson Australia has ever produced. The difference being the British parliament actually knew who he was, unlike poor Obama and your rubbish game.
Britain's parliament on Monday honoured rugby league great Arthur Beetson, the first indigenous captain of an Australian national sporting team, who died on December 1 at the age of 66.
The Parliamentary Rugby League Group tabled an early day motion recognising the achievements and legacy of former Hull KR prop forward Beetson, who suffered a suspected heart attack.
"His loss will be felt by all in rugby league, including those fans of Hull KR who were fortunate to see him play," said Kingston-Upon-Hull East lawmaker Karl Turner.
Chairman of the Rugby League Group Greg Mulholland added: "Artie was one of the greatest Australian players that has graced our shores and the loss of a player of his calibre and iconic status is a tragedy.
"I know all of us in the Parliamentary Rugby League Group were greatly saddened by his passing and offer our condolences to his family."

Nice post Dog's. Sure beats pictures of a baffled Obama with an accompanying article which clearly stated the man had no clue what AFL was. And it beats the suspect shot of the queen pulling off the same tokenistic gesture. I still cant believe how the AFL supporters on this board fell hook line and sinker for what was clearly a fabricated publicity stunt with no heart or meaning to it whatsoever. Quite funny and in the end has lowered their respectability..if that was possible.
What happened here looks to be clear recognition and respect of a great athlete and a larger than life character in an overseas parliament. Cheers for the msg Dogs.

Tokenistic jibberish from the Poms about the Native Beetson. I wonder if the Poms would do the same recognition to all the Natives the Poms massacred when they came to Australia?

Obama knew about our game. So did everyone else who has been offered a club jumper. Do you seriously believe that the US president would accept any gift that he didn't understand the meaning of and hadn't had it checked out by the CIA? That was well said by AFL Warrior in his second sentence. It was tokenism.

Gift checked out by the CIA
Oh dear Topper. You're in some mixed up version of disneyland and hollywood

Keep this up its quality posting!
But read the article on obama again and you will see he clearly had no idea which team the singlet represented and showed no indication of having any clue about the game of AFL.

Obama on a walkie talkie as the politician with the singlet approaches him: "*Ksshhht* can someone in the CIA quickly check out this strange singlet looking thing *Ksshhhht* I've never seen one before *Kssshhht* it looks highly suspicious *Ksshht" over and out"

Psychological situations also count, King-Eliagh. This is no Disneyland or Hollywood. The CIA are well known for paranoia and have been so since 1981 when it comes to the President.

So do tell me how it all 'went down' when the politician approached Obama with the singlet on the quick chance she had of getting that photo opportunity?

You are being ridiculous. Everything that was going to happen in that room had to be given security clearance. Every item without exception, including the Eagles jumper. It is not a singlet. That's what basketball players wear.

I should note that the only reason the British knew about Beetson was because he played for Hull. Had he not played in Britain they wouldn't have gone to these lengths.

I believe it was actually Ian Stewart after he played for Richmond against Fitzroy at the MCG in the first ever Sunday game in front of Her Majesty.
