According the ABS' last count, Australian Rules has the most players in Australia with a whopping 268,700 compared with rugby league's pathetic 91,200.

Can you tell which game has the most nationwide appeal to the people of Australia? Not hard is it when you consider which code is truly national rather than just for names sake.

Just another KPI where the AFL absolutely dominates the NRL. Oh and the flawed regionals argument put forward by throwball fans doesn't assist in this debate.

I wonder how many RL clubs there actually are in New South Wales? TLPG says there are 249 AFL clubs in the state. I have a small suspicion that the number of RL clubs may not be many more!

480K play league as per the state of the union address

another 61 high performances teams representing 61 clubs & 1200 players being fed into the NRL from NSW

not one school player is included or any of the comps they play in & there are school comps in every single sydney district & comps between the distrcits involving another 200,000 children

then lets go to Country NSW shall we of which there are 9 divison with 21 comps or groups not including Newc & Illawarra ( so 23 seperate leagues ) played from Albury to Tweed Heads & from Broken Hill to Taree
encompassing some 260 plus clubs & 3500 teams & over 80,000 players
again . not one school player is included ... however the schools comps in the country are not as prevalent as the metropolitan ones due to the distances betwen towns

AFL is an easy game to play ... girls play it

RL is a very difficult sport to play , its pyshically very hard & mummy's don't like their little johnny's getting hurt so a lot of kids in NSW & QLD who'd like to play league play soccer instead

a lot of adults & females who would also like to play or emmulate their NRL heros but again can't due to its roughness , so instead play non contact versions of our game ..... Touch & Tag
