There is NO WAY I'm calling the venue THAT name! That shows just how ridiculous this marketing of venue names stinks!

It's the way of the future, TLPG. Clubs and leagues have to get the extra money they need from somewhere and this is a fine tactic.

And a cop out of the highest order. Sorry, but that's the way I see it.

Why have you decided to draw the line at Skoda Stadium TLPG ?
Do you have a problem with any of the other commercially named stadia ?
If so just refer to their original names like Subiaco, Docklands, Homebush, Showgrounds, Cronulla, Carrara, Geelong, Princess Park. Leederville, Perth, Lathlain etc etc.

That's what I do, Cos. You're right - I don't like any commercially named venues. And welcome to the forum!

Either do I, but I'll take their money and use the most convenient name.
In this case I don't mind, because there is the old Sydney Showgrounds that hosted AR and the new Sydney showgrounds are new so it's not like an old name.

As far as I know the Showgrounds have never hosted any team sport. I'm calling the venue the Sydney Showgrounds, just like I refer to Olympic Stadium, Kardinia Park, Football Park, Subiaco, York Park, Carrara, Docklands Stadium, Marrara and Bellerive. I think that was all of them.

The SFL has played games there (mainly finals), Canterbury rl played one season there and soccer during the Olympics.

The Sydney FL has played there? *shocked* When?
