HUNDREDS of Grand Final tickets remain unsold for tomorrow's premiership decider.

Authorised ticket agents were last night scrambling to sell corporate packages being flogged for up to $1500.

The unsold seats are among thousands of Grand Final tickets bundled into expensive function and travel packages.

On-sellers yesterday blamed the ticket slowdown on the weather forecast, the state of the economy, last year's Grand Final replay and fatigue among Geelong fans experiencing their fourth Grand Final in five seasons.

"If you haven't sold them by Tuesday, you're in trouble," one agent said.

"You might sell a few but not all of them."

North Melbourne was yesterday battling to off-load 30 ticket packages giving fans access to the game and its Grand Final breakfast for $1325.

AFL spokesman Patrick Keane could not say last night whether the league had plans to make the unsold tickets available to rank-and-file Collingwood and Geelong members.

The cost of a standard Grand Final ticket is $170.

Each AFL club is allocated 1000 Grand Final tickets, which can be sold as part of corporate packages.

The AFL has licensed about 50 agencies to on-sell the seats.

It comes as Essendon confirmed rookie player Joshua Jenkins fronted the AFL yesterday over allegations of scalping.

"The club confirms rookie Josh Jenkins met with the AFL in relation to the on-selling of AFL Grand Final tickets," a Bombers spokeswoman said.

it seems this AFL grand final thingy .... has had its time as being a must see event
with outrageously over priced tickets .. & not even a guarantee you'll see the premiers .... fans have had enough & aren't fussed about it anymore .... the AFL's arrogant attitiude & vastly inflated opinion of itself & its game.. is finally catching up with it

meanwhile the NRL grand finals remaining tickets were snapped up in no time earlier in the week

I have to say I am not impressed with how the AFL season has shaped up in 2011 and the crap entertainment on offer.

They are Fn stupid for selling them all at such a high price and it angers me
Why not give the fans what they want and sell all tickets for $170 then your true blue supporter like myself doesnt have to fork out $1500 to watch their team in the grand final. Imagin the party you and a group of mates could throw for just a fraction of $1500 on the biggest screen with kegs and all..
I am on the NRL crews side with this one, sell your tickets to supporters with team colours in their blood at a reasonable price "like the nrl" not Fuking corporate wankers that dont really care about the game. At the end of the day its the REAL supporters that keep footy afloat..

Hmmm yes disturbing stuff and not in the spirit of sport at all.

Raider I've put $5 bucks on a draw in the grand possible final this year. Seems the bookies think its a fair chance too as its only paying 26-1. Personally I think its a sure thing so get your cash on it if you get the chance! GPF indeed :D

Oh dear, how stupid do you look. #-o

Official crowd: 99,537 at the MCG

And gees, you'd have hoped the NRL grand final tickets had been sold considering they have been on sale since July. :(/

Sadly for you though, another disappointing NRL Grand Final crowd in Sydney with just 81,988 in attendance in a stadium with a capacity of over 83,500. Why didn't all the seats sell? For crying out loud, they've been on sale since July.

AFL Grand Final Attendance last year ... 100,016
this year ........... 99,537

the AFL Grand Final was NOT sold out
for a Grand Final involving Collingwood ( self proclaimed most popular football side in Australia )
.... my my 8-[

whats doing there :?>

the NRL Grand Final involving one of the least supported sides in Sydney
& a side .... not even from Australia :?
we get a crowd only a few hundred less the last years ...
well done NRL fans in Sydney.... well done

346 less at the NRL and 473 less at the AFL. Aussie rules had a melbourne side against a regional victorian side the RL had a sydney side against a whole country #-o

a melbourne side ... ? :? .. only Australias so called .... most popular football team .. just ask the dribblers that follow collingwood
&
a regional side ( barely) ... only 80K from melbourne ,
a dream match up ... the 2 best teams in the AFL all year
but the punters couldn't be bothered ... lots of unsold seats.. 500 less 8-[
a further reflection of the stench the AFL is emitting nationally

the NRL had a much harder match up to sell ... the despised Manly & a non Australian side
yet we went very close to our attendance from last year which had 2 Sydney sides playing

a big tick for the popularity of the NRL in Sydney in 2011
a big tick indeed

only members not showing being the reason our crowd was not capacity

meanwhile it was confirmed ... the AFL was left holding 500 corporate packages

AFL GF ...has lost its lustre & appeal
bit like the sport full stop really

You didn't have a sellout stupid and there were plenty of empty seats at the NRL GF. Wake up to yourself. You're delusional. #-o

So now you're trying to tell us you have the exact breakdowns from ANZ Stadium on which seats were empty. Give us a break will ya and just admit you didn't have a sellout despite tickets being on sale since July.

P.S. You like my signature? Cheers mate. :(/

every seat that was for sale .. ie available ..was sold to the NRL Grand Final

the AFL was not able to achieve the same in 2011 for their GF
suck it up... & deal with it

Lies, lies and more lies. You're pathetic Raider. Again, you couldn't sellout your grand final despite tickets being on sale since July. Pathetic. :(/
