Hahaha, how pathetic. Just 14,845 for the top of the table Melbourne Storm in their first home final. Nice rounded figure too (fudged obviously as the stadium looked half empty). Abysmal. :(/

Hahaha you might have something there Beaussie. Gus Gould even suggested that he felt the figure was probably fudged.

Good to see that high profile League officials such as Gould are open to airing the codes dirty laundry. Its kindof leagues ethos to have transparency, unlike the AFL in a lot of things cough cough drugs policy.

LOL, there is no doubt the crowd was fudged. The NRL has form on the Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne. What a joke of a competition when you need to fudge the finals crowds of your competition. :(/

The best thing was when that nobhead NRL boss was presenting the minor premiership to storm and the 14g + crowd boo'd the absolute shiet out of him

number of empty seats at AAMI yesterday
about 15,000

number of empty seats at ANZ Stadium in 2008 when the Swans played a final there

64,000..... 8-[ :_<> :(/ :(/ :(/

& the AFL counted legs that day too
but I spose you couldn't blame them

announcing a finals crowd under 10K .. for their only side .. in Australias biggest city
would have been a bit embarrasing

well that is the biggest week 1 Finals aggregate & average in AFL History
so since 1990
that was a rare perfect storm of match ups for the AFL that doesn't happen every year
some week 1 finals totals for the AFL over the last 20 years have been as a low as 150,000

& considering 2 of the 4 NRL finals attracted crowds that would be classed as very poor indeed
the NRL would be reasonably pleased with their total from the weekend

As low as 150,000 for the last 20 years is still higher than 123,000 :P

That actually wasn't at all what i was trying to make out. I was mearly pointing out the fact that aussie rules had a whooping 150,000 more supporters show up to watch the matches over the weekend.

And if you're dating back to 08 I couldn't help but notice week 1 finals crowds of 15,193 18,252 18,343 and 19,227 in the NRL compared to AFL 71,653 76,703 37,685 and the swans match you refer to 19,127 which ia only 100 short of the highest NRL attendance for week one of the 08 finals. DOH!
#-o
