tonight at my local pub in sydney all the patrons were first on the rugby world cup, then league, then there was only me and one other interested in the swans game...

but to be honest there was a few swannies supporters in their colours who arrived just before the game and asked for it to be on a tv. the bartender said yes but when they asked for volume he said no. they complained at the bar with no reprise and other patrons said "tell them to go get fukked"

I was fortunate enough to watch the second half of the swannies winning with sound geting smothered by the manly vs north qpld league match... but ohwell it is a rugby/league city after all :)

Why aren't NRL Finals show live around Australia? Lack of interest clearly, as demonstrated by the pathetic ratings outside of Sydney and Brisbane.

I couldnt believe it when this evening as I drove home listening to the radio I received the sports report. They gave me an update of the NRL match in progress but nothing on the AFL match that was on at the same time. I was kinda pissed as I wanted to know the score but ohwell, I guess the Essendon Carlton matchup and the afl finals in general is not of interest to Sydney siders. They talk about the swans a bit sometimes on the radio but you dont hear jack all of the other matchups.

No wrong again. Rugby League just doesn't rate dopey.

Stop pretending that's not the case.

Rugby League Final Series Qf4 Nine 749,000 400,000 86,000 252,000 5,000 6,000

Wrong again. 70,000 AFL viewers on 7mate and another 31,000 on Channel 7 for the late night delayed coverage. Hmm 101,000 viewers. That's what.... more than double what the NRL achieved yeah... :P

I don't think many would be watching in Sydney - no one talks about AFL at work unless they are an expat from Melb/Adel or Perth. Given too that unless you have Foxtel - there are not many games live during the season in peak tv times to get people interested.

The first half for the Swans was abysmal. Still the ratings averaged over the 3hrs increased from the week before. Would love to see what the peak was in the 3rd quarter when the Swans mounted a real challenge.

Next season 4 games a week will be live on 7mate in Sydney and Brisbane with all games live on Foxtel. Can't wait to have FNF live every week. About time if you ask me.

Live football on 7mate is better than midnight replays on Channel 7. You clearly also don't understand the growth of the multi-channels in this country since the digital switch over began and continues.
