Thanks but no thanks News Ltd.
News Ltd can stick this token gesture where it fits!
News Ltd works to close the gap between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians
NEWS Limited chairman and chief executive John Hartigan will today launch the Reconciliation Action Plan 2011-2012, aimed at closing the gap between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians.
Mr Hartigan said the plan, which sets out targets and specific projects, would enable the company to champion the rights of indigenous people. "News Limited occupies a unique place in Australian public life. We reach more Australians every day than any other media company. This gives us both obligations and opportunities to play an important role in reconciliation," Mr Hartigan said.
"Over the lifetime of our company, Australia has grown into a confident, prosperous and diverse nation. It is deeply sad, however, that many indigenous Australians have not enjoyed the benefits of national prosperity."
The plan includes editorial exchanges with indigenous media organisations, supporting the indigenous business awards and continuing support of one laptop per child.
Projects already supported by News Limited, publisher of The Daily Telegraph, include five-year funding for indigenous students to complete medicine at James Cook University and funding indigenous athletes to participate in junior boxing championships.

Have to say I agree with you, Reaper. If they REALLY wanted to help the Aboriginal population they would put their money into providing additional health services and so forth in the outback areas where they are most needed. Be practical instead of idealistic! I doubt that any big business knows the meaning of the word "practical"!

This is why Aboriginal people should NOT get involved with News Ltd. If this is the attitude of the Murdoch media via their lapdog Andrew Bolt then the token gesture by News ltd speaks for itself....
ANDREW BOLT: OBSESSED BARKING MAD RACIST
Australian ‘Herald-Sun’ Murdoch columnist and propagandist Andrew “my best friend was an Aborigineâ€

Now unless your an Aboriginal Truthsayer then your input into this is irrelevant. The News Ltd Corporation supported Bolt in a recent Federal Court matter in which these Aboriginal people sued this racist. So any form of reconciliation with this racist media company is out of the question. Now run off and be the Murdoch apologist elsewhere and butt out of these affairs that are none of your business.
I beg your pardon but anyone's input into this important issue is relevant. Your opposition to this gesture indicates opposition to any support of any kind. News Limited's effort would be in spite of the views of Mr Bolt and not in support of them. How did the Federal Court rule in the matter you referred to?
