Played the top of the table Melbourne Storm today. Crowd at Canberra Stadium posted as 11,853 (no doubt fudged as is the norm in the NRL). Where are all the Canberra Raiders supporters?

Raiderdave, did you go to the game and support your team?

Hmmm yes not a good thing for the Raiders or the NRL. Was it raining?

The NRL really need to put some friggin energy into getting our lazy ass fans back out to the footy fields, me included. It's a bloody good day or night and nothing better than the thumping noise of a crunching tackle, even when you're in the nosebleed section.

it was cool , overcast & threatening , but it didn't rain
( one of the few games this weekend where it didn't )
We're one win off the bottom of the Ladder ... decimated with injuries & playing a team that doesnt bring many fans with them in the Storm

in previous years if we'd be in the position we are now
we'd have drawn 3 or 4 crowds below 10K of the 9 we've played at home so far

in 2011
we haven't got 1 under 10 ... & our smallest in 2011 .... was over 11K
imagine if we'd had a better year ...
our average crowds of a few years ago our now our smallest
our biggest crowds of a few years ago our now our average

like all things NRL ... the Raiders are on the way up even in a poor year
with a record number of members in 2011 for our club ( 10K ) as well as the NRL in general , we'll continue our growth & along with the rest of the comp

I agree with your last sentence, Hammer. Beau did say that. I thought it was fourth, but it seems the article on Wikipedia has been updated. I've been meaning to check it but I haven't had time.

(More rubbish by Raider and Onions removed! Sheesh!)

For Raiderdave to laugh this fact off is perplexing to say the least.
Indeed, the AFL has the 3rd largest average attendances in the world.

Constant rain on the same day in Sydney yet a crowd of over 23k turned out to see the Swans play a lowly supporter interstate team in Fremantle. That's more than double the turnout in Canberra where it didn't rain. Again, where are all the Raiders fans?

Constant Rain in Newcastle too
a city an 9th of the size of Sydney .... & the Knights drew a crowd the same size as the Swans
the only sporting event in Sydney's east miles from the rugby test .. no other NRL in town ... & according to TLPG theres 41,000 AFL clubs in NSW per sq mile ... yet a city with 4 million less people had the same sized crowd turn up to watch their NRL side .. as Sydneysiders to watch their AFL side

tell me .... when you let me know where all the Swans fans were on Sunday
I'll let you know where the Raiders fans were

Stop exaggerating. I never said that and you know I never said that. The reality is that Canberra's support of NRL is in big trouble. Comparing it to Newcastle is like comparing a church service in an athiest town to a union meeting in a coal mine!
