if the AFL was shown like the NRL..

well for 1 your stating a very high figure for a saturday standalone game.

BRIS v PORT on FOX alone would struggle with those numbers..
they need the FTA component in SA to bump it up another 130k

AFL's overlapping games and games at same start times..
works for them some weeks, and goes against them other weeks.

THE AFL and the broadcast partners have crunched the numbers
and this works out well for them..

it is simply as easy as that
I agree it works some weeks and not others. In the end it is probably positive but not by as much as it sounds. The fact remains they need to fit 24 hours of TV into 2 days so they need to overlap them. This is best done by playing multiple games into multiple markets to at least maximise viewers with this arrangement. But this is not the best solution for ratings overall as it splits the fox ratings in half. Therefore 5 of our games per round rate 100-150k less than if they were shown on foxtel on their own. Do that over 23 weeks and you end up lower by millions.

if you look at most sports around the world.

all sports overlap..

NFL AND EPL have 5 or 6 games on at once..
but yes population does help.

Rugby League is quite different..

Another flogging to the Nrlol

Was their thunderstorms that cut off electricity to the basements of the nrlol fans preventing the people with tv rating boxes from watching the tv meaning the ratings for the game was lower causing them to loose out to the AFL :-k

what is it year on year with regionals for AFL

they look pretty high>>

NRL used to eclipse AFL in regionals by a far margin.

we never used to get all the AFL regionals. Ive said this for years, while league fans bitched about the regionals, they also neglected to mention AFL ones, and over a season, that can be a hefty chunk.
yeah i understood that.. just never knew it would lift the figures as much as it has...

To get a few 100k it only takes a small number of people to tune in!
That’s what makes the whole ratings system rather laughable

we've been getting those sort of regional ratings figures for a while now

940k is disappointing for the NRL again given the premier played the mega-club. What's going on?

Should be an easy win for the NRL tonight with Ess v melb in the AFL. One city engaged, both teams winless with percentages around 50, they've been pathetic. Don't even think I'll watch it.

Another very poor result for the NRL with ratings barely over 900k.

The AFL only need 115k from foxtel to rate more.

So the score is now 6-0

6-0

You're avoiding the question from yesterday. You know the FTA scheduling is about the same for both codes so you dont want to talk about the STV scheduling. Do concurrent games on fox effect their ratings? If the NRL showed 2 games on fox at the same time would they rate as much as if they were shown in isolation?

Where are you pussy?

What are we talking about here?

This years competition, where so far you're having your ass handed to you on a plate?

Or last year, where you seem to be stuck.
