The players and the team (the on field performers) are doing pretty well.
The off field decisions are where the issues lie and they belong to both the local and the leagues officials and administrators.

Round 1 NRL not up against AFL though.

Afl still countries most valuable sporting product - fron tv right to sponsorship, to gate takings.

early days, but with Strong Ratings and NRL pushing towards expressions of Interests for 18th Team

NRL look to go back the negotiation table alot earlier than predicted.

and realign tv negotiation with a 18th team and 9th game.
and who knows what else they have up there sleeve.

I can see NRL extending contract with FOX AND CH9
for a really good increase.
as they know deal was done in 2020..
when prices seem to be half price than today's terms.

You think they will ever get more than the AFL?

i will ask you this...

how much more expensive is it to live now than 3 years ago.
prices are through the roof across the board on everything you buy.

NRL deal was done before anything we could of imagen what would occur
and was more like an extension to rights than an uplift.

ad this with an extra team Guaranteed, Dolphins bigger than expected.
the huge growth in Tv ratings since

the NRL will get a huge lift in coin $$

and yes i believe the NRL will match or better the AFL for there tv deal.

The elephant in the room when comparing NRL broadcast money (and for that matter overall revenue) V AFL is content. The great bumsniffing Wookie puts the difference at +41% for the fumbling game when compared to NRL games. Thats like a fruit shop selling 59 oranges v the shop across the street selling 41. Obviously shop 1 makes more money. Because they have more produce or product.

When that is taken into account the NRL currently gets paid more per minute of content than the fumblers. The total revenue is the same. The screeching, bleating and chest beating from fumblers about having greater revenue is a red herring. Its meaningless unless looked at objectively.

The NRL does very well and the head office and all clubs are currently making profits. The next broadcast deal will undoubtedly be much bigger than the current one. Particularly with the stellar ratings of the current season. Will it be bigger than the AFL one?? Maybe. I'd say it will get close but may not get more in total. But it will definitely get much much more in per minute content value. It's simple arithmetic's and business principals.

Have a great day.

I noticed the Pies v Power game was not televised into Brisbane on FTA last week. Found that interesting.
