Incredible ratings for the NRL this week.

Biggest round of NRL ever: QLD clean sweep sparks incredible Foxtel ratings records

Television audiences were up 17 per cent compared to Round 1 last season, with the Dolphins upset win over the Roosters drawing over 567,000 viewers.

The newest team in the NRL posted slightly bigger numbers than their cross-town rivals Brisbane, with 552,000 people watching the Broncos knock off reigning premiers Penrith - but that was still a record for a Friday night game.

Yet it was the Sharks and Rabbitohs on Saturday night which produced the most viewers in Fox Sports history for a regular season NRL game, with over 630,000 tuning in.

NRL ROUND 1 MAKES HISTORY ON FOX SPORTS

- Highest-rating round across Foxtel platforms ever, up 17% year-on-year

- Sharks v Rabbitohs over 630k viewers (#1 NRL regular season game all-time for Foxtel)

- Dolphins v Roosters over 567k viewers (#1 Sunday arvo NRL regular season game all-time for Foxtel)

- Panthers v Broncos over 552k viewers (#1 Friday NRL regular season game all-time for Foxtel)

- Eels v Storm over 546k viewers (#1 opening NRL game all-time for Foxtel)

Australia's most watched sport amazingly gets bigger and better every year. Well done RL!!!!!

The NRL viewing numbers are dodgy. Fake news.

Australia’s television ratings provider OzTAM contacted Foxtel last week following the release of ratings data about the NRL’s first round of the season. Foxtel said it had an average audience of 523,000 per game, up 17 per cent year-on-year, but did not explain where the data came from.

Multiple media sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they are not authorised to speak publicly, claim Foxtel is misstating data it receives from OzTAM by combining it with internal data and failing to remove duplicate audiences across its services, such as Foxtel IQ, Foxtel Go, Binge and Kayo Sports.

a pretty .... pedestrian
1.2 Mill ish , some estimating for the derpball opener on Thursday
while it beat the NRL game on at the same time about 1.140 Mill ( Manly V Parra)

It will fall short of the NRL opener which rated over 1.3 Mill

I'd think skinnywhiteboyball would be disappointed with those figures.
The shellacking has begun
