Wow 180 ,150 ........Such a differance WOW! vwhat a difference -
wtf are you on about?

1. You guys have repeatedly claimed the AFL have a FTA advantage combining ratings from multiple home markets using concurrent games, and how it offsets the loss in concurrent fox ratings. Well yesterday's single FTA game rated over 900k, just as much if not more viewers than combined games into multiple markets. So the advantage is in your imagingation. Last week showed this as well.

2. The NRL's 2 fox games averaged 194k. The a AFL's 2 fox games rated 171k. This is about the same margin we see on Thursday's and Fridays. This, again, shows the AFL rate better on fox when games are shown in isolation

3. You claim the AFL only rates on Thursdays and Fridays. Now our single game flogged yours on a Sunday by almost 300k :afro:

The landscape has changed drastically, there will definitely be more bids by more players for the AFL ptv rights, and partnerships for deals for both FTA/ptv are becoming more likely. And the PTV rights for the AFL come up before the NRL and they are in conjunction with the FTA rights.
I think the AFL will do very well out of it.
That is very true, alot more options in Streaming...
I just do not see AFL getting anything like the FOX Deal, 6 year 1.2bill
if they can not get exclusive games per week.
Streaming services will want Exclusive Games

the FTA Deal for AFL is a bargain compared to the NRL FTA
I think the options have changed enough to give the AFL the opportunity and incentive to be very creative, especially as their 2 main rights, expire at the same time, I’m sure not accidentally. And creative they will be.
yeah agree, well FOX have stated they want exclusive games, and not the current arrangement at the moment.

if AFL and FOX mix this up and most definitely FOX will pay up.
however FTA will decrease as they would be getting less

But isn't it said prime time also avails itself to better opposition??? Or is that only for Sunday night grand finals?

of course it has you up against better programming playing in Primetime.
with any sport or tv show, it is up against popular programs.
does not mean it will not rate

overall positives and negatives yes it is advantage to play primetime games at Night..

But i will say Grand Final's are different, it is ingrained in to you of when the game is and when.
Society and fans know time and date of when the big dance is scheduled to play.

if you don't know when the AFL Grand Final is by now.. you are not gonna be watching either way...
likewise with the NRL GF

i know this, but you are still have restrictions in place.

I would not expect anything less for West Coast 143k in a big match up.

Ad breaks are really secondary as it is the subscriptions they want.
SSO is amongst the anti siphoning events, FTA get first crack and they depend on AD revenue.
A couple more thoughts.

Let’s pretend that the the SSO series is sold as a seperate package and the FTA networks do not bid for it.

So it’s open to PTV etc:
Does the winner:
Include it in the current package and if so would Foxtel/Kayo gain more subscriptions to at least pay for it?

If included it an existing package would they need to change the spread of the games, using the past few years as an example, you could get the 3 games by subscribing for a month then cancelling.

Sell it as an events package as an extra? Unlikely to get more permanent subscribers that way

Sell it as an events single game buy? Ditto.

Sell each game to different providers, remembering in this scenario FTA’s have passed.

I suppose there is no reason the FTA’s couldn’t bid for each game either.

Could get interesting, but there is a little while to wait.

And Leeroy, I suppose a 4 quarter game could be introduced just for SSO for possible more ad revenue.

Another option for PTV if successful would be to sell ad time for SSO “events”
There are lies, damn lies and then there are ratings.

Lol

Ratings were consistent with other prime time games in Melbourne. Restaurants here have been packed. In fact the state government are subsidising meals in the cbd by 20%
