The Amount of people that have watched something or done something is the only deciding factor in what is/or isn't more popular.
Well isn’t “watched something or done something” two things and therefore not the only deciding factor.

And aren’t, watching (on tv) going, joining, sponsoring and paying for broadcast rights all doing things, so your 2 only deciding factors are not the only deciding factors.
if more people shop at coles than Woolworths which is more popular?

If more people drink coke rather than Pepsi which more popular ?

If Toyota sells more cars than Mazda which one is more popular?
This dumb comparison i think. More are willing to spend money to attend AFL games. More popular then?

No but we are talking about ratings and the impact of a show being in prime time?

Wouldn't it being a Grand Final make it more advantageous to having it in prime time?
Everybody knows when the grand final is on And anyone who wants to wach it will, day time/night time wont matter. A club game is a different thing altogether.
No I disagree- both NRL and AFL grand finals will get their core supporters. That's a given - it is the casual viewer they are interested in. If it was a sunny day and the NRL grand final was on I would have no problem going out and missing it - but if I come home and sitting around on a Sunday night I'm likely to watch as I flick around.

You can\t have it both ways - you are likely to rate higher if you are shown in prime time - simple fact - whether it is an AFL game during the week (p against other popular shows in prime time) or a grand final on a Sunday night. You can't have it both ways.
yeah , The casual viewers. The ones that would just as soon watch a good movie, the block or sixty minutes. The Type of shows that's aren't shown during the day. Annd How many more people would go to the pub and have a GF party with there mates.

Two peas in a pod, neither able to face reality.

Why is it dumb? Its not hard to work out 60,000 more RL viewers spend $25 a month to watch there teams. And the streaming service, Kayo dito. Rugby League has 4 matches that attract 3m +, AFL just 1

1mil Australians send money on AFL membership. Hundreds of thousands attend games. Both are multiple times what happens in the NRL. That's a fair indication of the difference in commitment

Pet Membership half of them. :(/

They do have more members and Crowds are about double that of league but the real real kicker here is the 120,000 + paying $200 a season for a fox kayo Boxes. The many more thousands in pubs and clubs watching the game, also the C9 streaming numbers

Pussy ... that makes no sense. There is only one metric there. By your logic you could say if afl sells more tickets it is more popular. More people went to games. But it isn’t that simple. You can say more people watched on TV ... but that just means just that... more people watched on tv. There may be many reasons for this. So let’s take your logic and afl play there games all in prime time, in isolation, and it rates higher ... doesn’t make it more popular. You have some strange logic sometimes lol. Maybe more Rl people subscribe to fox .... so many variables.

More attendance, more sponsorship, more membership and more broadcast $. Money talks......just no so much for the NRL.

That is 120, 000 more than the afl. There well over 1/2 a million at a club game just the other day.

Well that makes sense then. Of course there will be more RL subscribers to Fox then there would be for AFL ergo - rating should be higher on Fox. Conversely, explains why AFL rates higher than NRL on FTA usually. Goodness - if I had of taken the time or had the inclination to find out would have put paid to all this so called discussion. Makes sense now.
