Consider the following.
Very strong competitions and participation numbers all over Australia.
Local Sydney metropolitan league over 100 years of history Local competitions in many other areas of NSW also been a big part of the community and strongly supported especially in the Riverina , Murray and far south coast.
Even in Newcastle , the competition is of a reasonable standard.
Ditto for Qld, many well supported community based competitions.
Cannot deny the AFL is a national competition just because TV viewing statistics in some states are only modest.
can't outrate the simpsons in NSW , the ACT & QLD on TV
National sports & what they look like
the USA has 2.. gridiron & baseball , popular from coast to coast
soccer in England
Ice Hockey in Canada
would the ESL ever be on a secondary TV ch in London ?
the NFL in New York ?
NHL in Toronto ?
but
this silly little bumbling abortion from Vicderpia 40 years after its had teams in Sydney & Brisbane , still ... isn't popular enough to be shown on main channels
its as much a national sport as tiddly winx
28 US states do not have an NFL team.
More the half of the US is not represented by their “National Sport.
A bit like the NRL in Oz.
lets put an NFL team in bum fuck Idaho eh ?
seriously
fumblers & their rampant spasticity
American football is the only sport in town in winter & baseball the same in summer from San Jose to Providence
a must see in this country & appropriately covered by the media
not the same with the drops & giggles in half of Australia
down there with infomercials & the weather channel
