Ah he finally admits it!!

If the NRL is popular "everywhere" explain the ratings of SOO in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth - espeically the latter two!

Where are the NRL's capacity crowds at either SFS or Olympic Park?

I'll say the NRL is doomed!

If the AFL wasn't popular everywhere, there would be no football leagues where it wasn't popular. There are AFL competitions everywhere in Australia or there have been.

And that would be the AFL which is watched by millions right across the country, whether it be on tv or at the ground. The NRL will never match that passion shown by AFL fans across the nation.

The highest ever rating football grand finals in this country have all involved the Swans thanks to massive audience numbers in NSW. Nationwide spread and appeal is something the so called National Rugby League can only ever dream of. I know you wish that wasn't the case.

Actually it is even worse for the NRL when you realise the games that were played live in the Brisbane and Sydney markets from 7:30pm last night.

Sydney had NZ Warriors vs Canterbury Bulldogs whilst Brisbane viewers saw Brisbane Broncos vs Gold Coast Titans.

Notice the massive drop in viewers once the games are switched in each market from 9:30pm. Some really worrying trends developing for the NRL this season. Particularly concerning considering the tv rights are being discussed.

Seven’s AFL: Rnd 17: Adelaide Vs Essendon Seven 690,000 16,000 416,000 14,000 181,000 64,000

Nine’s Friday Night Football Nine NZ Vs Canterbuy 404,000 302,000 *** 102,000 *** ***

Nine’s Friday Night Football Nine Brisbane Vs Gold Coast 464,000 177,000 *** 287,000 *** ***

1 grand final.............. ONE , 2005
& those same NSW veiwers stayed away in droves the following year when the swans played in the GF again
& the 2006 AFL Grand Final ended up being beaten by the NRL Grand Finals
helped by a squllion victorians watching the Storm play the Broncos , now theres some nationwide appeal

Why must you lie all the time? Firstly it's 3 AFL grand finals involving the Swans that remain Australia's most watched football grand finals. 1996, 2005 and 2006.

Secondly, no NRL grand final (even with the Storm involved and in prime time on a Sunday night) has ever rated better than a Saturday afternoon AFL grand final, even without the Swans to provide massive viewers numbers in NSW.

Think before you post in future please.

Oh and lastly, what no comment on the continuing drop in viewers for NRL Friday night football? Smashed again by the AFL on a Friday night. Guess there is not much you can really add in those circumstances eh.

the truth & you.. like ships in the night aren't you

the 2006 AFL Grand Final dropped by nearly 500K on the 2005 GF
almost all in Sydney 8-[
the NRL Grand Final in 2006 was a ratings monster beating the AFL one quite comfortably

oh & the FNF ratings thing

are you taking my bet or what ?
