Making the AFL ratings in QLD even more impressivepussycat wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 1:56 pmThey are if there in lock down states. I'll type slow so you can keep up
an NRL fan whos team isn't in the finals is not locked down , not restricted with where he or she can go , is not as likely to watch games &
we're missing some monster clubs in our finals too , Brisbane .. Bulldogs . Tigers & Dragons to name a few
what the AFL is getting is most of its fans in Vic regardless of who they follow watching .... because theres nothing else to do when you're locked down.
huge factor
finals are in the evening meaning most people are home no matter what the state. Ratings for other programs like the news show this because they rate similar to last year. The AFL is also missing large Melbourne clubs like Hawthorn, Essendon and Carlton
Your attempt to explain poor NRL ratings is very funny
There is quiet a bit of rivalry between Qld and NSW . Games between the two generally pull more viewers, Brisbane especially.
And Qld viewers don't like to watch matches that don't involve Qld team. However once the Broncos start to win again the Lions will return to obscurity!

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings
AFL in QLD does not want expansion from Rugby League it would effect other sports interests quite alot.
the NRL is starting to realize that two teams in a city is better than 1
YES NRL!! that would be right!! YOU ARE ONLY LAST TO DISCOVER THIS

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings
it a mammoth year of losses for the games.
who of which have already taken massive deductions in broadcast monies.
this year is a clear right off in perspective of ratings figures.
(when you get broadcasters Ch7 and Fox. stating that figures are up on 4 factors..)
they are not over ally happy as they know things will be different in the new year..
what makes it funny NLOLRL does not concede this.
I will take the Broadcasters points on board over a punter.

NRL needs its prime teams to match AFL in Finals.
otherwise it is no match.
the lift in ratings for NRL for finals 1st week is not really much of a jump.
be interesting to see week 2

are they ?
maybe in the boring as bat shit state you live in theyre home tucked up in bed with a cup of cocoa
in normal places , on Friday & Sat nights , people are out living their lives
nice try
another fail
in NSW , 30% of virtually nothing .... is virtually nothing for the AFL lol
so a few extra ex pats from down south watched the AFL finals in NSW.. so what
The NRL finals down in Sydney could be any number of things , but they still shat on the AFLs

the finals totals & some other fluff from 2011..... your memory needs some work
this was pretty common back then.
the NRLs ratings only started to suffer when huge areas of our regionals stopped being included about 5 years ago when WIN was sold to Sthn Cross 10 which has far less reach.
Suddenly our regional audience went from double that of the AFL's , to about on par despite the NRL's regional population being double that of the AFLs.
Are we expected to believe that people across the ACT , regional NSW & QLD just stopped watching NRL. Its quite ridiculous.

1.418 Million all up ( when the foxtel ratings are accurately accounted for ) for 2 of the biggest Clubs in the VFL
they have the 2 highest memberships
NRL 899K metro
593K regional
1.492 Million for 1 of our biggest clubs & one of our smaller clubs
put Parramatta or the Dragons on against the Bulldogs
& you could easily add another 150 to 200K to our figures
even with pay they can't to beat us
no wonder the TV execs think our game is the more valuable of the 2 > > >
1st week of finals , friday night games
NRL 1.492 Million no pay tv
AFL 1.418 million .... with pay tv
theres an astounding amount of info on this very thread to prove you wrong

fact is , in 2012 it all went very strange & no one can put a reasonable reason up as to why.
Both codes do not attract anywhere near the numbers they did 8 & 9 years ago .... not even close.

2. TV has more channels so viewers have more choice. This translates to lower ratings for individual programs
3. Streaming like netflix has taken many viewers away, as has online gaming
4. Kayo has taken away 10% of sports viewers
The NRL's regional audience is about 2/3rds of their FTA audience, which is logical given the size of the regional v metro populations. The AFL's regionals are about 1/3rd of their metro's, which again makes logical sense.
You're living in the past Raiderdave. The AFL dominate the TV ratings, and have for many years now
