& I don't give a hoot if 11K members is pathetic by Melb Standards .. they continue to rise ... & if the Storm win the comp this year.. they'll continue to rise ,as will their crowds
They've already won flags - and yet 11K is their best to date? Even the Swans have more members!

This appeared in the Herald Sun earlier in the year. Is this newspaper on your censored list?
While the NRL is enjoying a surge in crowds, the AFL numbers have been a concern.
Also from the Herald Sun - RD 13 -
'sparsely-filled stands at many games this week end saw the AFL record its second-lowest attendance figure for a round since 2006....'

Care to comment on the embarrassingly low crowds in the NRL this weekend? Awful crowd numbers in Adelaide last night and Sydney today. Oh dear, what's going on?

Sparsely filled stands by AFL standards maybe. But look at where the games were played;
Att:19,363 Venue: Docklands (Bulldogs v Adelaide) Capacity - 53,359
Att:42,329 Venue: Docklands (Essendon v North) Capacity - 53,359
Att:16,377 Venue: York Park (Hawthorn V Gold Coast) Capacity - 20,000
Att:39,539 Venue: M.C.G. (St.Kilda v Geelong) Capacity - 100,018
Att:21,510 Venue: Gabba (Brisbane v Richmond) Capacity - 42,000
Att:19,092 Venue: M.C.G. (Melbourne v Fremantle) Capacity - 100,018
Att:42,788 Venue: Docklands (Carlton v Sydney) Capacity - 53,359
Att:35,059 Venue: Subiaco (West Coast v Port Adelaide) Capacity - 43,000

The Melbourne-Fremantle game is probably what caused the Herald Sun comment. And yet that's an attendance that most if not all NRL clubs would absolutely love.

Port Adelaide
... a local side , have won a title , only AFL game on this weekend playing in supposed Heartland & everyone in Adelaide would have known they were playing
attendance , 16877 :shock:

NRL ... no promotion ( on purpose by the scared little pro afl merkins in the SA press) so no one would have barely known it was on

attendance ... 9,963

pretty respectable result comparing to the only AFL game in Adelaide this week eh ?

can you tell me .... whats going on ?
:wink:

Port Adelaide v St.Kilda - neither side in the eight, home side lucky not to be on the bottom of the ladder.

Canterbury v Melbourne - Second biggest drawing team in the NRL v the top team.

That tells a rather more pertinent story don't you think?

PS - Port Adelaide are not supported by the whole of Adelaide. It is very much a case of if one isn't a Port supporter, one hates them.

In the pouring rain! A fine night and they would have broken 30K easily.

Give it up while you're behind, Raider.

No, NRL didn't promote so it wouldn't have made a difference.

Your view is completely out of touch with reality, Raider. The statistics speak for themselves. AFL is killing NRL on most levels, and you keep arguing for the losers as though they are winning when they aren't.

Get back to me when;
1. The average attendance of the Sydney NRL clubs combined is higher than that of the Swans.
2. The number of senior grass roots AFL clubs in NSW is outstripped by the number of senior grass roots RL clubs in Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia combined.
3. The TV ratings for the NRL in Adelaide and Perth actually gets to a decent level.

And that's off the top of my head.

Do me and every other AFL supporter in this great country of ours, and stop insulting our intelligence with your grandios crystal balling born more out of hope than reality huh?
3.
