Their choice. It shows that the NRL is over estimating the Storm's "popularity" in Melbourne and they don't think they need to advertise. Melbourne is after all a sporting mad town no matter what the sport.
But one still has to advertise! Even the AFL advertise down here, and they'd have less reason to than the NRL!
its Ch 9 who've gone ....
wow
imagine if we put them on regularly at a decent time

& they scream like banshees you peanut ... & prime have good reason to not show AFL in regional NSW & the ACT
unlike the ratings the storm are now getting for games shown at a decent time in Melbourne
when prime put the afl on live ... it didn't rate anywhere near enough to justify keeping it in that time slot ... if it did .. it would have stayed in this time slot , Prime is a business , it has to make commercial sense .. & it didn't.
thats why its been fobbed off to a secondary digital network ..
where it belongs

With figures like that and no contract to say the games must be shown live or prime time, I don't blame Channel 9 Melbourne for shunning a product like NRL and delaying coverage until midnight.Raiderdave wrote:Ch 9 Melbourne are already wondering why the hell they haven't been putting more league on live on sundays .. based on ratings for the Storm the last 3 times they've put them on
game 1 V Penrith 37K
game 2 V Souths 50K
game 3 V Tigers 86K
Not a chance in hell live NRL will be broadcast on a Friday night in Melbourne up against the AFL. Keep dreaming sunshine. How will you explain it when the game is not shown live but rather the normal midnight timeslot used to put people to bed.Raiderdave wrote:looks like they'll extend this to a Live Friday broadcast into Melbourne in a few weeks when the Storm play the Broncos down there

But hang on a sec, did you not just saw beforehand the following?Raiderdave wrote:you can't write in a claus in a contract til it is negotiatedTLPG wrote:Why not now like the AFL, Raider? Why wait until 2013?
our current deal has no such provision , the next will
Why would Channel 9 wait for a new contract when they can already broadcast all Storm games live in Melbourne now? They must be mad.... yeah? Or are you making things up again? When you post rubbish like that, you have no credibility.Raiderdave wrote:Ch 9 Melbourne are already wondering why the hell they haven't been putting more league on live on sundays .. based on ratings for the Storm the last 3 times they've put them on
Stop exageratting. It was 1,000 more viewers for the top of table Storm winning easily against the Tigers (86,000) whilst the Swans were being belted by the Blues (85,000).Raiderdave wrote:they still drew bigger numbers then a team that has been forced down the throats of sydneysiders at prime time ... for decades

Isn't every broadcast of an NRL game and Rugby League's pinnacle State of Origin belted by every other program when broadcast into Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth? Hmmm and you still think you'll get a billion. Delusional comes to mind.pussycat wrote:Wasn't the Swans belted by re-runs of the Iron Chef on SBS?

then you're meeting was attended by dribblers with very short memories , or no memoriesTLPG wrote:I lived in Canberra for two years in the late 90's. I was at a meeting attended by a full room of angry AFL fans and it was mentioned at the meeting that Canberra had NEVER had Friday night AFL live.
However it did show live games on Saturday arvo and Sunday arvo.
I live in Canberra
the Friday night experiment was short ( for the reasons I've mentioned) ... but it occured
& yes to this day ... a lot of Saturday & Sunday arvo games are on live here
again... only because they don't go up againt FTA NRL
Swans games on Sat nite ... are always on live on 10
again... no opposition from the NRL.
if the NRL starts spreading its allocation of FTA games to Saturday nite in 2013 , then mongaball fans in Canberra had better be looking to sign up to Foxtel to see some games
