BOLD STATEMENTS: Former Penrith and Kangaroos hardman Mark Geyer belives the Warriors should be dumped from the NRL for the benefit of the sport.
Former Australian rugby league representative Mark Geyer would like to see the New Zealand Warriors cut from the NRL.
Geyer has said that the Auckland-based franchise is an experiment that has gone too far and that the NRL will benefit more from developing itself within Australia than from spending money maintaining the Warriors.
He believed the NRL could very well be renamed the Eastern Seaboard League due to the lack of competion elsewhere.
Geyer said on Radio Sport today that it was strange to have a team from New Zealand in the competition when there were no teams based in South or West Australia.
However, given the examples of the Western Reds and Adelaide Rams, some may argue that teams from south and western Australia have been experimented with before and have failed.
The reknown hardman also commented on the 'disappointing' ratio of Polynesians in Australian club sides and said that if New Zealand had its own competition these players would not end up on Australian soil.
Thoughts???

He is the biggest tool going who actually thinks he is intelligent which is even scarier. Channel 9 are to blame, who have given this bloke a taste of television and now he thinks he's Einstien with boots. People only remember him due to the Origin farce of him fighting Wally Lewis, a bloke 10 years older and about a foot shorter than himself.
As for his comments, they are as demented as his fear of aussie rules over-running league in Sydney. Honestly, with calls like that he hasn't got much credibility to fall back on too.
As for his comments about polynesians playing in Australian comps, so fucking what?? Did he even stop and think for a second that these fullas playing in our comps enhances the skill factor of our own local talent??

Mark Geyer also says that AFL is a terrible game played by fairies... are you going to start a thread on that as well Bea??
Geyer is a brain dead moron who can't even string together a sentence...
He is just saying these ridiculous things to give himself some publicity...

Believe it or not, I was not trolling. Simply posting some news and comments from a commentator of the game that relates to a current NRL club. Was just interested to read the comments of other League fans. Perhaps some fans agree with Geyer.

Or maybe other players who have have their heads in the sand for how long?? We live in a multicultural society, he needs to understand this, god knows we've (Indigenous Australians) had to. He's not a very smart man.

He's a try hard commentator that, ashamedly so, is probably at a similar level to the commentators of today...on channel nine at least.
I dont believe it either that you weren't trawling, it's was a gee up post to belittle the game of Rugby League. Do we need to respond by quoting dumb comments from former AFL players?? I'm sure we'd come up with some doozies, look at the more recent form, Caper, Carey etc

Well the consensus in this thread seems to be that the NZ Warriors are an important team in the NRL and Mark Geyer is a fool.

Right on both counts...
NZ produces many NRL players each year...
Its important to keep an NRL team over their flying the flag...
They are also another TV market that contributes to NRL revenue (I have heard in the vicinity of $10 mil per year, however I have no source to confirm this..)
In fact, in the longer term they need to think about expansion to Wellington as well...
