It's a ridiculous questionaire if you ask me. I was reading the other day that many Australians failed the test. Does that therefore mean they are not Australian? Stupid Howard playing politics again in an election year.

And not only that;

Question 9 - the questionaire will say (b), but (c) isn't incorrect!

As for Question 15 - talk about religious intolerance!

I was able to get 19 out of the 20 (the one I struggled with was the national flower - not sure if it's the Wattle or the Banksia)

Obviously people will be given time to study and a text book of some sort I would assume.

They have been doing this in the US for years apparently and this doesn't prevent many people from successfully being US citizens every year.

Jeez, it is so hard to try and learn something about the country you want to go and live the rest of your life in?

Or is the only things that immigrants are interested in are our welfare payments, free education and health services???

Currently, applicants need to have been permanent residents for two years and understand "basic English". Under the new provisions, applicants will be given a Q&A test of about 30 questions drawn randomly from a list of about 200

How long do you think it would take to leard 200 simple facts about Australia??

Its not exactly asking someone to pass a HSC 4 unit maths test!!!

well people oday who did those tests living here all their lives got some wrong ... so how come they have ciizenship

Because they were born in Australia... what other country should they be citizens of??

If you want to come and live in the country then learn some SIMPLE things about it like how many states there are, the capital city of the country, and some basic historical facts...

Its not that hard is it??

My concerns are how they will be enforced ?? My understanding of how they were conducted during the white Australia POlicy makes me a little concerned

Don't be too worried about something that was discarded a long time before you were born....

All races will be able to take the test...

If they haven't got the basic levels of English to pass the test, then they better learn it first during their residency period hey??
