Asia - vs- World XI @ MCG
The world XI side to take on Asia in a One Day match at the MCG on January 10 has been named. The is part of a two match series with gate takings, etc, to aid the releif project underway in the areas affected by the recent tsunami.
South African and English players won't be available due to current Test duties, however there are two players coming out of retirement or semi-retirement from One Day cricket:
Australia -
Ricky Ponting (c)
Matthew Hayden
Adam Gilchrist
Shane Warne
Glenn McGrath
New Zealand -
Stephen Fleming
Daniel Vettori
West Indies -
Brian Lara
Chris Gayle
Dwayne Bravo
England -
Darren Gough
Coach/Manager -
Steve Waugh

Yes, good match for a good cause. However, I was perplexed to hear that the West Indies may not release Lara to play in that game and may substitute another player for him. It would be a pity if this happened.
Seems indicative of WI cricket at the moment, though. They are doing their level best to disintegrate both on the field and off.

Tendulkar has actually withdrawn from the match due to injury, but says he'll still make the trip to Melbourne for the game anyway. Good on him

The West Indies will decide shortly before the start of play whether skipper Brian Lara will take part in the one-day cricket match against Australia A in Hobart.
The two teams play back-to-back games over the weekend at Bellerive Oval, with the West Indies needing to find form in a hurry ahead of the VB Series which starts on Friday in Melbourne.
Lara is playing in Monday's big game at the MCG to raise funds for victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami so he may miss one of the matches against Australia A.
The weather is expected to improve in Hobart after a cold, showery day on Friday.
