The survey, conducted by Foxsports.com.au in partnership with CoreData, surveyed 1108 respondents...

Cricket remains dominant as the national sport (47 per cent), followed by AFL (24 per cent) and soccer (16 per cent).

Cricket is considered to illustrate Australia's national spirit the best (40 per cent), followed by soccer (19 per cent), AFL (18 per cent) and rugby league (7 per cent).

Gee, despite rugby league apparently dominating the codes in NSW and QLD, it does not figure in the national sports popularity stakes. The people have spoken.

How about a mere 7% thinking rugby league illustrated Australia's national spirit. National Rugby League my arse. :(/

1. How many respondents?

2. Who commissioned the report? Bias? Reasons?

3. Soccer better illustrates the national spirit then AFL according to the survey and you are trying to use this as overwhelming evidence of AFL's dominance over other football codes?? Seems strange.

4. Who were the respondents? - clearly the whole article (of which you quoted only select parts) shows it is geared at cricket enthusiasts mainly and was more concerned with cricket related issues, asking other questions as an afterthought.

Come on Beaussie - lift your game!
