Yes, Beaussie it has happened...

Finally rugby league is almost a national game. The semi-final that put a Melbourne team into contention for the grand final was watched by 375,000 people in Melbourne yesterday
The Swans got 339,000 on Friday night in Sydney...

Suck it up big boy...your worst nightmare has arrived...

The people of Melbourne have spoken....

I'm expecting Eddie and the Channel 9 big wigs to pay close attention to this and next week's result and show more NRL into Melbourne next year...

Its all good Beaussie... :P

Willis you need to realise the NRL final was not up against any AFL final in Melbourne, unlike the AFL final that was up against an NRL live final.

In addition my friend:
From TEN press release:

"Average 1.8m,peaked at 2.24m.

The audience in Sydney was pleasing, peaking at 515,000 with an average of 373,000 and steadily building once Nine's NRL telecast concluded."

In conclusion, the Storm did not rate higher in Melbourne than the Swans in Sydney when all the facts are considered.

You never took the competition into account for the Storm's last game Beaussie...

No good calling it a draw...the facts speak for themselves...

This is what you said on the other thread...
In addition, more Sydneysiders watched Collingwood vs Western Bulldogs in the AFL, than Melbournians tuning in to see their own Melbourne Strom defeat Parramatta Eels in the NRL finals broadcast live into Melbourne
.
No mention that the Storm game was up against the AFL Pies/Dogs game...

Yeah my point was more Sydneysiders watched non-local teams in the AFL finals than Melbournians tuning in to see their NRL team.

The fact that the NRL final was up against an AFL final in Melbourne was irrelevant to the point I was making. Additionally let's look at the national audience for this weekends finals. The AFL is the clear winner:
The semi-final that put a Melbourne team into contention for the grand final was watched by 375,000 people in Melbourne yesterday, which must be the biggest southern capital audience on record for a biffo match. Perth and Adelaide couldn't give a damn.

Ten's AFL match was on in the afternoon, which means its audience did not count towards "prime time". Nine won Saturday with 34.2 per cent of the prime time audience, while Seven got 21.5 per cent, Ten got 19.5, ABC got 18.6, and SBS got 6.2. And despite the biffo, Dr Who is making a comeback -- up to 834,000 last night.

As you can also see by the bolded figures above, the NRL post match in Melbourne are not correct as the post match was not even broadcast in Melbourne from what I've read elsewhere.

A movie was shown instead straight after the Storm players left the field. Huge boost in audience numbers in Melbourne once the NRL finished. Interesting eh? I wonder how Eddie and the bean counters at Channel 9 interpret that?

The "post match" in Melbourne actually referred to the period 9.30 to 9.50 which included the last 10 minutes of the game and some quick intereviews after the game before being prematurely ended..

Obviously whoevever pulled the pin early on this will get sacked by Eddie as it was the most popular ratings period that 9 had all day...

I am absolutely thrilled with the Melbourne results.... A great base to build on going forward.... T
