For once I agree with you Gus... the future for Rugby League and the Storm in Melbourne is looking great...

Going to a Storm game at their home ground is an enjoyable night's entertainment and congratulations must go to all concerned for the way they have cultivated their supporter base and for how they treat supporters to ensure life-long loyalty.
When I go out in Melbourne, I find more and more people wanting to talk about football. Their interest revolves around the home team, but over the past 18 months I've found people keen to talk about all matters in the game of rugby league.
Don't get me wrong. Melbourne is a staunch AFL town and always will be. But if the Storm can attract a fan base of 20,000 to 30,000 people and get another 300,000 regularly watching the game on TV, this will be a great result for the game.
I reckon they will achieve this comfortably

Yes I have to agree aswell. Melbourne is AFL aswell as sports mad...plenty of room for the storm to achieve there.

Only 11,000 turned out for the top of the table Melbourne Storm on a Friday night last week with no AFL in town. Pathetic.
Where is this staunch increasing fan base? The numbers dropped from the previous home game against Brisbane by over 5,000.

Apparently the crowd from Friday was wrong.
Please note the Melbourne Storm have reported that a malfunctioning turnstile meant that the crowd figure issued on Friday night was not correct. The figure will be revised upwards and media will be advised of the correction as soon as possible (probably tomorrow).

But do you realise that Storm crowds are up by 15% this year??
That fact coupled with the sell out SOO at the Telstra Dome, and the fantastic origin ratings are confirmation that RL is on the up in Melbourne...
