Wrong! There were the same number of games last year as the year before! Yet crowds, revenue and ratings rose.King-Eliagh wrote:Of course overall crowds and ratings went up. There were more games ya stupid zit!Get with the program Xman, the credibility of the competition has gone down massively and the AFL cant continue supporting the clubs who are struggling forever, it's quite simply unsustainable. The AFLs expansion and financial problems are comparable to global warming. Drastic change is required and I'd like my fellow members here at talking footy to share and provide options to fix it. I'd expect our AFL supporters to be most passionate about this massive issue. Don't be skeptics all ur lives folks!

So where is this negative affect KE?
A rise is a rise! Certainly indicates there was no negative impact as you're suggesting, doesn't it KE?King-Eliagh wrote:Wasn't the rise miniscule? I'd prefer you to calculate the avgs against the 2011 season when GWS weren't in there and the basketcase league hadn't yet fully formed or become incorporated under my leadership.
That'll be a much more valid indication xman.

So the rise in population all attended and watched the AFL did they? :_<>King-Eliagh wrote:Ah. reread my post champ.
I'd imagine the miniscule rise was less than equivalent to the rise in population over the year. Lets compare with 2011 shall we?
xman wrote:KE, why is an even comp important?
So all the new babies and immigrants attended the AFL?King-Eliagh wrote:Oh dear. do you know what equivalent means in terms of what I was saying re crowd rise? Lemme help ya. Pop increases by 0.2 percent from 2012-2013. AFL avg crowd prob rose by the same miniscule margin. Comprehende?
And why you avoiding the 2011 comparisons Xman? You think it'll show sometin bad?
xman wrote:KE, why is an even comp important?
So the NRL dropped, and the AFL rose. And you're claiming the AFL were the ones suffering a negative impact?King-Eliagh wrote:Don't worry about statistical analysis ok, you don't get it.
2011 Xman? U afraid?
NRL just dropped, not a great thing, I can admit that cause im a man and honest. It doesn't make me cringe like the afls issues does to you.
xman wrote:KE, why is an even comp important?
surely you aren't this stupid!King-Eliagh wrote:2011? For those who have perspective that reaches a lil further than their a hole, heres the reason Xman couldn't nor wouldn't go there
AFL Home & Away
Year Attendance GM Ave.
2013 6368346 198 32163
2012 6238876 198 31509 <<<<< GWS Giants enter comp
2011 6525071 187 34893 <<<<< GC suns enter comp
2010 6495814 176 36908
So since 2010 the AFL has experienced a drop of almost 5k in avg crowd attendances during the home and away season. That's a whopping significant 14% decline in the avg attendance of every match. Massive. The NRL for the same period NRL crowds have dropped 500, or in % terms a statistically insignificant amount of approx. 3%.
Folks there's a serious problem going on here. Xman will crow till the cows come home that there's a larger total attendance but what he's denying is the additional 12 games per year where fans are going to watch their team play. The stats clearly show fans aren't as interested in going to see their team play as often these days. It's not just GWS and GC that's causing this, those teams play away from home every second week. It's them and the other basketcases that fans of AFL teams are saying, like me and the swans, you know what...I'm not gunna bother going to watch the swans play Melbourne even tho I gotta free ticket. Why? Its a foregone conclusion.
I went to watch the swans play brissie last year at the scg and even though I love watching brissie get belted I found myself bored in the first quarter. I think the swans were up by almost 50 in the first quarter. The rest of the match was a snore fest. Crowd were literally quiet enough to go to sleep in the third and fourth quarters. ... ... ... the match was over.
People have better things to do with their time than go to an event as predictable as we've seen in the AFL the last few years. Its a massive problem folks and I sure as hell hope you AFL supporters can be proactive now, not apathetic like Xman. Lets acknowledge this massive problem. The comp is lopsided to billio and I for one am happy to lead a march to AFL headquarters with you all holding signs saying exactly that!
Are yas in!?
