So let me imagine I'm a fumblefan for a minute
How do I try to make sure that AFL wins the ratings for the year .
Firstly lets discount any top level RL games that are not part of the H&A season
So that's SOO & internationals gone
Next let's try to ignore the fact that we the AFL have one more FTA game each round .
Let's focus that some games are concurrent...wooooo that's a big negative .....yep let's just ignore they're shown into home markets to maximise ratings ..um .we will think of some excuse if this point is raised .
In the NRL they can't count NZ ratings for their home team ...
So that gives us aflolers the ratings for 18 teams each week v only 15 for the NRL .
Yep that's fair ...
Feel free to add anything that I've missed

And I never said you didn't publish the results(where possible). And I'm appreciative of all the work that you put in.
Just out of curiosity were any estimates used in the 1st 17 rounds?
3 games had to have regionals estimated before round 22. The NRL ratings are actually pretty easy to do because we have probably 90% of the data,
Due to the nature of AFL ratings, ive probably only got regionals for the main thu.fri.sat matches, but not the rest, although i had 4 or 5 good weeks in the middle that will have to do estimate wise (as a rule i need at least 4 proper data points before im happy to make an estimate, even better if they are scattered throughout the year).
Its not the NRL ones that are the problem, its the missing AFL regional data.
RL has many regional teams and much bigger populations in it's regional areas than the AFL. Maybe the AFL regional ratings just don't register because their so small.

Sure. I'll add the NRL show EVERY game in isolation, maximising ratings. They show the Broncos on FTA prime time just about every week to maximise ratings. They show SOO stand alone so it maximises ratings. They show their GF in prime time to maximise ratings. They play few if any afternoon games which rate less.....

The issue is many AFL games on FTA are only shown into a single state so regionals are always going to be small. Adding all these single market games together achieves a reasonable audience but getting the data is the challenge. However, ignoring it reduces our ratings by about 1/3rd

I produce all data segmented, as well as totalled, so everyone, on all sides of the data gets what they need, and as i generally do, Ill even release the spreadsheet i used for the year for anyone to download and draw their own conclusions.
That wasn't a shot at you
It was the usual suspects who do exactly what I've posted .
