it has been done to death, and explained clearly enough even for you tossers. Targeting home markets increases viewership by some degree, but showing concurrent games basically halves it because OZTAM simply cannot register the same person watching two games. Showing games in isolation allows this. Notice the AFL won Saturday's rating easily yet during the year when our games are shown concurrently the NRL average more on Saturdays. This is no coincidence and proves my point convincingly. Under the same conditions the AFL gets higher ratings. It's pretty simple to understand, even for you

then maybe you can explain why in the space of a year
the VFLs numbers have gone from 50% of the NRL's
to 90% ..
thats absurd
there has to be a reason & anyone who thinks it isn't odd ... is kidding themselves
There is a reason - less regionals appear to be watching the NRL finals for a start - AFL regionals barely rose from 2015 to 2016, and are down on average in 2017 after the first week of finals. If AFL regionals stay the same, and less NRL folks are watching then the percentages stll rise for the AFL.
In 2014 NRL regionals for Week 1 finals averaged 495,000. AFL Finals averaged 213,000. 530,000 people watched an all Sydney final (Sydney v Penrith) in the regions, while Brisbane v Nth Queensland pulled in 560,000 regional viewers. The 500k regional mark hasnt been crossed in a week 1 final since.
In 2015, NRL Week 1 average was 413,000, AFL week 1 average was 275,000.
IN 2016, NRL Week 1 regional average was 367,000. AFL week 1 average was 276,000. In 2016 no final except the Grand Final, passed the 500k mark for regional viewers.
In 2017 NRL week 1 regional average was 322,000. AFL week 1 average 247,000.
wookie, would NRL having PTV these past couple of years partly explain this?

An AFL fan can watch 6, more often than not 7 PTV games a week. Very few have the time to watch any more than that.
But to counter that you can watch Pay TV any time Saturday and most of the day on Sunday.
You can go out and come home and watch fumble ball. If the scores blow out or you don't want to watch Freemantles game you can simply change the channel. None of these things can be done for the NRL. You get 8 you don't like them - to bad, the score blows out - to bad, you want to go out - to bad!
FTA is not an issue there are no games shown at the same time and you get the maximum ratings possible by showing
them into there own market.
Stop making excuses! AFL is a dull game. Fans only want to watch matches with atmosphere. Your matches are very one sided and even brainwashed fumblers don't want to watch them.

Bollox! Friday is in isolation. Saturday arvo has 3 games, all overlapping. Saturday night has 2 games totally overlapped. Sunday has 3 games all overlapping. In effect an AFL fan can only watch FN, 2 Sat arvo games, 1 Sat night game, and 2 Sunday games. That's 6 games for a total of 18 hours of AFL. An NRL fans can watch all 8 matches in only 16 hours. So raw ratings data counts an AFL fan watching 2 more hours sport as watched 2 less games.
This alone renders the totals completely meaningless!

yet more hours watched is counted as less
games watched

Sure, there's choice, but you can still only be counted once. When there are 2 quality games on you cant watch both.
FTA is not an issue there are no games shown at the same time and you get the maximum ratings possible by showing them into their own market.
it's an issue when Melbourne are shown 16th v 17th while Adelaide and Perth watch 1st v 2nd. It's an issue because 2 FTA games effectively result in FAT for just over 1.
Stop making excuses! AFL is a dull game. Fans only want to watch matches with atmosphere. Your matches are very one sided and even brainwashed fumblers don't want to watch them.
If AFL was dull we wouldnt nearly triple your crowds and smash your ratings just about every single game. Yes you had 4 ripping finals last weekend, yet our 'one-sided' round easily outrated it. What does that say about RL?
