Melbourne Storm has signed AFL player Shem Tatupu for the next two years, with the 20-year-old New Zealander making the switch from the Hawthorn Football Club.

Tatupu has a rugby league background, growing up in Auckland and playing the sport from a young age.

"He played a lot of league as a kid, and his dad was an original member of the Warriors and represented New Zealand, so he's grown up with rugby league," coach Craig Bellamy said.

Yeah i know that. I read the article. He still wsd developed as a AFL player from 14 i think it said. Pretty good athlete quite tall and good size. Hope he does well at rl would have been good to see if he made it at AFL level. Maybe he was able to see a chance of playing at thr highest level in the nrl? Who knows. Had he had a game yet as note article was from start of year.

I wasn't trying to point score or anything like that it was just that the discussion sparked my memory when looking at who was delisted that one player had that he had gone to the storm. So when i read this i looked it up.

Just because he has a league background shouldnt matter should it? Here was a guy who as a junior was spotted and taught aussie rules.. as a development project i assume. Having put in a lot of time into AFL i wonder if he has played a lot since a kid anyway re rl. A bellemy points out he will have a whole lot of skill sets to bring across but will need to develop others. Is he also a project player for the storm or has he played already?

He was a rugby league player, then he tried AFL and basically excelled within a few short years of playing. Why? Because he was likely much faster, tougher, more powerful, stronger, and more agile than the thin wafer cat walk ready laddettes he was running round with on the marngrook fields

He might make the storm but thTll be because he's a rugby league player through and through. He just had a short foray into marngrook and like izzy and khunt, found he could cut it at the highest levels without experience

Sure. I read it sonewhere so when i have nothing to do and if the inclination is there, i will see if i can find where i read it. Then you and others can pick some holes in it or whatever you do for fun.

In saying that i did provide an article that listed times that nic nat was measured to have recorded but you just simply said it was lies or made up so i will assume this pattern will folliw with similar articles that do not meet with preconceptions.
