There are many other international tournaments with different venues and different promotional opportunities.
But none of them inolve all countries.
cos789 wrote:Cracker wrote:The International Cup already has the rule of no Australian ex-pats and playing the Cup in Australia makes this rule much harder to fulfil.
I don't see why.
Are you suggesting that it is easy and cheap for countries to travel to Australia to compete? It is not. In the travel sense it's almost the worst place to play it.
cos789 wrote:Cracker wrote:If the game is to epxand this is essential.
Australian Football is expanding all the time. The positioning of the IC is in no way seen as critical.
It is crucial per what I just said.
cos789 wrote:Cracker wrote: Those who insist on playing it in Australia are against the expansion of the game.
Those who insist on the AFL IC being held in Australia are the competing nations.
How many times to I have to repeat this.
Why should Australians in Australia tell the players of Australian Football from all over the world where they should have their own WC ?
If the competing nations are insisting on playing the Cup in Australia, then they are fools. Such an insistence is the enemy of the expansion of the game, not the friend. The game can not expand through the International Cup if it continues to be played in Australia.
It holds the expansion up, and hands international competitiveness to rugby league in that battle almost on a plate.[/quote]
There is NO fucking battle.
Oh My..

So you two are suggesting that there is no battle at all between Aussie Rules and Rugby League?

You claimed there was a battle "INTERNATIONALLY".
There is no battle ..
Rl has 100 yrs of test football history.
Rl has 100+ yrs of playing International Footy.
RL has pro & semi pro comps outside of AUS.
RL has teams at NRL & State level from other countries.
AFL has....
That is how stupid your comment is.
Serious question.
Did you get hit in the head a lot when you were a kid?.

Just a moment, AFLcrap1. Cos789 provided evidence of a presence of Aussie Rules outside of Australia. It is pale at present compared to rugby league as you rightly point out, but what is wrong with competition? It's good for both codes, and I'm encouraging Aussie Rules to do the right thing in order to improve it's international presence.
Are you against that?

Hell yeah, fuck AFL, it's an embarrassment to the rest of Australia that doesn't follow it.
Why would we want to push this abortion of a sport on to anyone else?
The humanity.

For the good of competition. If both sports are performing to their maximum in all respects we all benefit. Neither sport is "an abortion". They both have positives to present and negatives to control.

At least AFL is it's own game not just a derivative of rugby union - shit even the name rugby league doesn't make sense - is it a league of rugby teams or a rugby league league???
