Swans4ever, took all of his info out of the AFL Annual report 2012 which is available to download and read through the AFL web site.
You braindead fucktard. I have provided a link. You dumb fans just don't want to pull your head out of you arse & see how your sport fudges the figures to make it look like AFL is thriving in SYD.

4.3 Health Check
4.3.1 Multiple Versions of Auskick
In the chase for participant numbers in NSW and ACT, a shortened and often subsidised version of Auskick has been aggressively rolled out in primary schools (In-School Auskick) and after-school centres (Community Auskick). The In-School participants have rarely elected to join an Auskick program. Their school has chosen to include an Auskick program.
Junior club feedback has indicated that the In-School and Community versions have, at times, harmed Club Auskick. Consequently, the longer term retention of entry

1. Western Sydney – The Reality versus Perception Gap
The reality is that junior club maturity and participation numbers appear to have stalled. There are 6% less junior/youth players in 2012 than in 2009. The perception, however, is that the game is growing well. This perception is supported by masking low junior club numbers with Auskick numbers (Club, School and Community Auskick) and school program numbers. This optimistic, bullish perception is needed to market the game, however this perception urgently needs to be underpinned by committed junior club participants.

b. Retention above U14
The greatest „retention cliff‟ in GSJ football occurs from U14 to U15 age groups (-27%; 706 to 515 players in Greater Sydney).
I am beginning to think that who ever is the carer for these AFL fans should NOT let them near a PC.
No one can be this dumb.

You took one portion of the ENTIRE report - how about the conclusion that found the overall NSW state AF was reasonably healthy! These School owned Auskick programs were only 44% of total Auskick participation, so it's not as dire as you would have us believe - the AFL have far from giving up on NSW in fact it appears they are doing their due diligence and making sure they don't drop the ball - now how's NRL doing in comparison in Victoria, Tas, WA and SA - I'll think you'll find RL is light years behind and that situation will not be changing in the foreseeable future!

That's not fudging! That's promotion through schools which they've been for decades in the football states!! The schools you jumping on CHOSE to have an Auskick program, and made it a part of the school PE program! Makes great sense given it gives the best chance to show athletic potential on a number of key points.

By the way, retention is a problem at 14/15 in all sports.

all the sporting organizations, run programs in schools across Australia so its not just aus kick. the kids are made to participate in these classes as part of their physical education class . it doesn't matter what code or type of sport, cricket, basketball, rugby AFL,

at least the AFL at least released figures. unlike the NRL, just tell every one we have the number 1 game & all the dumbshits like you dave believe it

the only way to gauge how a sport is growing/progressing especially in non heartland areas is actual REGISTERED PLAYERS ,in actual comps ie Sat or Sun club games.
That is something the AFL don't like stating .

There was an article on the sign up for junior sport in SEQ at the start of the yr .I will look for it later .
From memory .it was .
RL 48K Registered players .
Soccer cant remember 40-50K registered players?
RU 8k registered players.
& when AFL QLD were asked it was 7K Participants. So who knows what the real number is.

Did it occur to you to think that there aren't any weekend competitions in non heartland areas and the only way to develop interest is through the schools? Oh no, Dave, of course it didn't!
