Raiders just lost by 64 points. In a low scoring sport, they lost by 64 points. They aren't a second year team full of rookies. They aren't in an expansion market training out of tin sheds. They lost by SIXTY FOUR POINTS. In contrast GWS lost by less to Collingwood, Essendrug, and Geelong, all top eight teams.

If GWS are toxic, what on Earth are the Raiders? At least the Giants show occassional glimpses of the future. The young talent they have is mind-boggling, and it's often simply their inabilty to run out final quarters that is costing them wins (especially aganst Collingwood and Essendon). The Raiders have no such excuse.

you complete f wit

the Raiders had won their previous 12 games at home in a row
based on the present strike rate for the midgets ... it will take them 6 years just to equal this amount of wins ... AT ALL VENUES :-k

the Raiders have won ten games this year
10 times the number those bumbling orange cockheads have :(/ :(/ :_<> :_<>
the Raiders have beaten the Storm & the ladder leading Roosters this year
the Midgets would not get to within 120 pts of the top few sides in the VFL if those sides were fair dinkum

the Raiders played finals in 2012 are in 7th spot in 2013 with 5 rounds left & may well play finals again in 2013
the Midgets are last .... by a long way .. in the weakest lamest VFL comp in memory
they will be last again in 2014

& will be lucky to avoid get out of the bottom 4 in the next 3 years

but yeah
the 2 sides are comparable :-k

I wasnt trying to make a contribution there drac. Raiderdave made a more than appropriate contribution/response to your quite insane suggestion that the raiders are in some way a worse performing team than gws :(/

No, I'm simply asking the question. DrAc? What's wrong with you? What on earth came across ur mind to think that the raiders are a worse performing outfit? I mean. Have you gone stark raving mad? If gws hadn't beaten melbs, a team which in any other AFL era would be finishing the comp winless, if gws hadn't of just pipped melbs last week they would be the first team in the last 50 odd years of AFL/vfl to have finished winless themselves. Same goes to gws, if they weren't playing in the most lopsided era in AFL history they'd have been winless last year, this year, next year and 2015.

It's not a D'oh on ur part. It's not a mind blank. It's not a brain fart. It's akin to all ur brain matter transforming into diarrhoea and vommitted out upon these boards.

Drac, what's wrong with you? Are you ok?

I base my assertion on the fact that the Raiders registered the 8th worst defeat in the history of the comp, a nadir that even GWS haven't reached.

And you might like to brush up on your football history. There have been many teams go winless through a season before, and if you think GWS wouldn't have beaten those you're kidding yourself. There have been numerous periods where teams have been making up the numbers far worse than GWS (Fitzroy once beat Melbourne by 190 points), and none of those teams were filled with 2nd year 19 year old rookies either.

Again I ask, what was the Raider's excuse for suffering the 8th worst defeat in the history of the comp? Were they getting valuable experience into their youngsters? Short term pain for long term gain? How did a team allegedly pushing for finals record the 8th worst defeat in the history of the comp?

And while we're on the subject of whether they're toxic for footy in west Sydney, the entire debate hinges on the concept that GWS are building toward success. That these losses, while no doubt painful for both players and fans, are at least leading somewhere. As we have seen with the Suns, who are almost (not quite, but almost) just another side in the comp, it takes a few preseasons and 50 or so games for these young teams to start to hit their straps. As a GWS Giants member I can say that some of the losses have been horrible, but overall I'm pleased with the effort the team has put in (especially in th elast 3 weeks) and the overall direction the club is heading in.

Let me put it another way. Who would be happier with their 2013 season; GWS Giants fans who experienced one win, or Parramata Eels fans who experienced (thus far) 3 wins?

Good points Drac - RD ignores these facts as it doesn't fit into his argument - KE I have said this before 2 yrs is not enough time - but for a side like the Eels with 70+ yrs behind them it must be considered disastrous - as for the Raiders thats a club with significant problems - very little in the way of competition yet only 10+k attended there on Sunday - there average has been steadily dropping since the hay day of 94 when they were getting 17k average now down to 10500 - they are steadily going downhill and one must ask how many of the 10+ will turn up next home game after that pathetic performance?

Ps Arena stadium holds 25k their average is a touch over 10k that means with RD's logic that unless you get 95% of stadium sold out you are a failure - with only 40% of seats being filled the raiders have to be regarded as a completely toxic club for Canberra!

RL has filled Canberra stadium to beyond its capacity .... 3 times since 2010
the Raiders .. twice
no other sport in the ACT has done this , not even close

the fumbles n bumbles hasn't got close to filling a venue north of the murray in the last ten years
while RL has filled Etihad on 3 occasions since 2006

suck it up princess
you can't hide from it

the fumbles n bumbles is on the way out
not that it was ever in :-k

& our code just gets more popular each year
the fear is strong in fumblers
as it should be

Sorry RD which game in 2013 did they get a 95% capacity crowd? Sorry cough - none oh dear - slip sliding away, slip sliding awaaaaay!

Yes the fear is strong - not from AF fans but from the obese RL bumblers - what sport changes the ball from leather (traditional) to plastic, makes it bigger and puts dimples on its surface so you can catch it easier and they still continually knock the ball on - AFL crowds, membership, TV rights, TV ratings and sponsorship all ahead of NRL!

And don't it hurt RD, it hurts so bad and the pain won't go away!

So the swans haven't got close to filling the SCG this year?

Jesus wept! Anyone see the crowd up in brissie for the gws lions match?

It's like there's 22 skinny school boys in white and orange out there emitting toxic gas as they bumble and fumble around the park.

So very toxic.

I think the real question is what would be the cost of not having a team in western Sydney ?? They should be performing okay by the time the next tv deal comes about and I think that's the plan. They will be a very very good team. Then ke can go on about draft concessions and salary cap concessions lol

They are the worst team in the history of the AFL. And they were purpose built, by the AFL with that superstar of footy, that legend of the league, izzy folou spearheading their attack lol

An absolute farce and you knobs can only ever say "oh yeah, we'll in a few years they're gunna be aweweeesoome!"

Well fact is, they won't. Unless they miraculously get what the AFL shoulda supportd them to do from day dot, and that's a raft of experienced players.

Brissie,a perennial basketcase leaguer, wiped them off the park last night, thoroughly smashed em

Smell the fear from this knob. Fact is, many GWS crowds have been bigger than Penirf's, an established nRL team who have existed for longer than 40 years. Off the back of some success, GWS should have a sustainable fan base and plenty more core fans. It's a 20 year project, not a 2 year see how we go project like the nRL have had in expansion markets in the past.

Brisbane aren't in the basket case ? They beat essendon and Geelong ? Gws is a must and ke is already looking for an out and will say when they are good that was because AFL did this or that lol. Anyway I'm off this troll bait thread . I'll leave the other fish to bite.
