With their $100 million TV rights deal that dwafted anything your code had, with teams wanting in from all over Australasia, you really are a dumb p r i c k

The AFL is secure because of its popularity. The NRL have made their game a TV game and are still suffering the consequences. The AFL would never have been worried about the NRL, who wouldn't know national expansion if it took a dump on their head, especially until the storm.

Ratings no. We all know that. Crowds and members have all been a part of marngrook culture, partly so strong because the scope of a television camera can, to the lesser enthusiasts and passionate supporters alike, make the sport look like a pack of sea gulls fighting over the last chip at times. I'm sorry but I'll take mick malthouses words and the undeniable stats indicating a mass amount of 'non event/shallacking' matches over your words on this one any day Xman. Just dont tell your shrink ok?
Ratings yes....where you been?

The only article citing this years figures showed the AFL won by 10mil =D>

but rugby league ...... won by 8 million

pull the other one .... it plays jingle bells

this popularity has not saved many VFL clubs from failing badly financially
& thats not including 2 .. cash hoovering mill stones that will weigh the VFL down for a long long time ...
VFL costs continue to spiral upwards .... its an inflationary arms race that will eventually hamper this ... security for the entire code.

RL has no such issues
no waste of space clubs ..... a massive increase in revenue , but this new mountain of money will be balanced with controls on expenditure.
what a rosy couple of decades the great game of RL can look forward to

Vicky kicky ... not so much

The nRL has plenty of wast of space clubs lol. Canberra, Cronulla, Melbourne, Penrith etc. Just a few of the 15 nRL clubs annually making losses largely because of their sub 15k crowds week in week out. If the nRL ever decides to expand, then there's some new expenditure for the league. With a lot of the nRL's new money going towards the new CBA and its clubs, expansion will likely be culled because it's not sustainable. TV money can only get you so far, multiple revenue streams like the AFL has is what you need to be a successful organisation.

lets look at our waste of space clubs according to spewie
Canberra ..... 3.4 Million dollar profit last year & one of the most stable clubs in the land financially, finalsists every 2nd year since 1998
Cronulla ...... debt free & tipped to have a genuine tilt at a premiership in 2013
Melbourne .... 2012 premiers , & the most consistent team on field in any code since 2006 , continually posting profits since 2009
Penrith ..... finished 1 point off the minor premiership as recently as 2010

& now lets have a look at the VFL's

Midgets ..... 8-[ .....
Thuns ..... barely any better then the above joke
Melbourne ..... tanking *********
Bulldogs .... :-k ... jesus , 1 comp & it in the jurassic age
Wions ..... 10 million lost in the last 5 years
Poort poohmedaks ..... 8-[ ............
Ruchmond ....
North
St Kiddiefiddle
the mediocrity & failure .... it just goes on & on

the NRL will be spending a smaller % of its revenue on player wages then we did in the old TV deal ... despite increasing the salary cap
there is so much more dough in RL's coffers ... its near embarrasing

watch us spend it wisely

meanwhile the VFL continues to decline
good days

good days
good days
Canberra: $200,000 loss from a $10m budget and 1 FTA game
Cronulla: The usual annual loss and have never won a premiership, correct? Shit home ground, shit crowds etc. Typical Shitney nRL team.
Melbourne: Premiers in 2013 yet their average crowd went down by 2000, and that's with no stadium redevelopments holding them back. Shows where the support is for that ailing franchise
Penrith: Crowds of 5,000 will be the death of that club. I give them 5 years.

Giants: The beginning was never going to be easy, they're a long term investment like the Swans who took 15 years before they had sustainable support. Now they're the biggest team in New South Wales
Suns: Exciting list, crowds rival the Titans in so called "rl heartland". One finals birth for the Suns and the Titans can just forget it.
Melbourne: Hit hard recently losing their no.1 draft pick as well as their president to cancer. They will rebound.
Bulldogs: 3 preliminary finals in a row not long ago, their downfall was inevitable with retirements etc. They, like the Bulldogs, will rebound.
Port Adelaide: Exciting times ahead with a new era emerging. New coach, new players, new home ground etc. Much to look forward to.
Richmond: The AFL's sleeping giant. Once they finally break the drought and reach top 4, you better watch the fuck out!
North: Posted a profit in 2012 and made the finals =D>
St Kilda: Missed the finals in 2012 for the first time a while. Inevitable downfall like the Doggies had, after two grand finals in 2009 and 2010.

Not many positives to take out of the nRL. Stagnant code, boring and new rules brought in to make it even worse.

More to look forward to then raider fans! What, will the raiders get 5 FTA games over the next 5 years? Soon their football budget will be so low in comparison to other clubs theyll struggle to afford toilet paper!

The Raiders won't post a profit lol. They never do, no clubs except Brisbane do. Port didn't finish bottom 4 last year so don't expect them to do so this year, twat.

The only thing arse Raiders fans have to look forward to is getting the best seats in the stadium because it's empty all the time

the Raiders will post a profit .... always do when all their business interests are included
along with about 12 other NRL clubs who will be in the black in 2013 , hell it might be all 16 with all this extra dosh they'll be given & only a tiny increase in expenditure  ...

Poort Powerfailure are a joke on the field .... & most certainly are off it
bottom 4 for sure .... possibly even .. the spoon for this embarrasment of a football club
& that means another near 7 million loss will be announced at the end of this year
&
the VFL & SANFL .... will give serious consideration to winding them up

Those business interests do not give a shit about the Raiders football ops, do they? They have other business expenditure to take care of, so the Raiders team doesn't really see much of that money, do they?

Bottom 4 hey? Well we didn't finish bottom 4 this year and that was despite having an incompetent coach. Now with a coach who's worked with some of the best in the business, he will know how to get more out of the players.

The $NAFL will not want to wind Port up numbnuts, that would cost them millions. Since they use Port as a cash cow (Crows as well), they rely on stealing our game day revenue to fund their local competition. This is what the AFL wants to stop, and removing the $NAFL from holding both Port's and the Crows AFL license is just the beginning.
