Don't forget the regionals

I know people living in Shitney. Football is rarely ever advertised on 7 for matches.ParraEelsNRL wrote:Wtf, how do you know where they promote the game and on what channel seeing as you are half way across the friggin country?
they rammed it down Sydney's throat .. for an entire week you wombatStewie wrote:Properly promoted the telecast on Channel 7 you moron. So ads on Channel 7 during their shows like the news etc promoting their telecast of the match.ParraEelsNRL wrote:Properly promoted?
Wtf, that's exactly why the Vfl is failing in the Northern states, Vfl never knows when to stop promoting their game, imagine the NRL getting 50x the promotion in Vic that what the vFL does, you merkins wouldn't put up with it, yet we here have to.
Thank Fuck the NRL got a $billion +, we might actually see some decent promotion of RL at long last.

They promoted the actual match obviously. But they did not promote the broadcast on 7mate. Sydney sports fans are fickle and forgetful so no doubt there was many who did not watch purely because they forgot it was on and don't bother checking the multi channels. It's a well known fact that the same program will rate higher if it's shown on the main channel than the multi channel.Raiderdave wrote:they rammed it down Sydney's throat .. for an entire week you wombatStewie wrote:Properly promoted the telecast on Channel 7 you moron. Well if that's the case then why not show the nRL GF on Gem and in HD while running with regular programming on 9? You're delusional if you think multi channels don't reduce the amount of viewers a show/program would receive if it was on the main channel. because the swines got the same figure on both the main channel in previous years & 7 mate this year for finals
150K approx is the maximum audience who have any interest in flogball in Sydney outside a GF
less then b grade chick flicks , now thats F'ing hilarious![]()

the codes have agreements with the networks to show the GF on the main channel nationally d headStewie wrote:Well if that's the case then why not show the nRL GF on Gem and in HD while running with regular programming on 9? So if no such agreement was in place, would you care if the nRL GF was shown on Gem nationally?Raiderdave wrote:the codes have agreements with the networks to show the GF on the main channel nationally d headStewie wrote:Well if that's the case then why not show the nRL GF on Gem and in HD while running with regular programming on 9? you're delusional if you think the VFL could have attracted anymore veiwers in Sydney to its prelim final on the main channel
I have data to back up my claim

Take a program like the big bang theory for example. It rates around the 700,000 - 1 million mark on 9, and when it's on Go! it rates about 300,000. Neighbours is another example, rating over 500,000 nightly when it used to be on Ten and now about 300,000 on Eleven. What happened to these hundreds of thousands of viewers? Answer, the core viewers will obviously switch over to the multichannel but the viewers who may have the TV on say Ten for the news might just leave their TV on Ten for the rest of the night and may not even be watching the TV. Same deal goes for 7 and 9, some people just leave the TV on after they've finished watching a program such as the news.
It doesn't matter what type of program it is, the same principle applies. People watch a show they like and leave the TV on that channel if they go to do something else, e.g. go on the computer. The prelim final would have well exceeded the multichannel ratings if it was on the main channel.Raiderdave wrote:sport isn't a sitcom or a TV dramaStewie wrote:So if no such agreement was in place, would you care if the nRL GF was shown on Gem nationally?Raiderdave wrote:the codes have agreements with the networks to show the GF on the main channel nationally d head![]()

pretty much everyone knows where its shown & when its on & they have one opportunity to watch it live ...
the Swines core veiwership is about 50K
a final ... as has been proven adds about 100K regardless of wether its on the main or digital ch
thats the max audience
VFL is just a yawn for most sydneysiders

On the main digital channel the Swans were getting 100k for day games which is 1/3rd of the NRL games on Sunday in Sydney. So 1/3 of the NRL's ratings is poor is it?Raiderdave wrote:300K for the swines prelim on the main channel in sydney ....Stewie wrote:Grand Final and a few finals all rating in the hundreds of thousands. If 7 had put the Sydney v Collingwood prelim on 7 that would have rated well over 300,000. They made a mistake however, as that prelim ended up out rating their program on Channel 7 at 8.30. the swines used to get only about 150K in finals .. when they were on the main channel
they got their ... maximum non GF audience for the prelim this year
thats about as high as it goes for the Victorian game in Sydney outside a GF
it outrated the rubbish on the main channel on 7.... because 600K were watching the NRL on 9
Ch 7 in Sydney for the Swines prelim... got it dead right
