And the rest of the NRL clubs, Eel, you idiot! Only one (maybe three) are in the black! The Broncos! (And maybe St.George/Illa and NZ) And unlike the AFL clubs they can't service the debt because they don't have the income!! Due to LACK OF CROWD NUMBERS!!
I want to see the figures for all the NRL clubs. And didn't I read somewhere that the Storm debt was actuall $25 million??

The NRL is looking at Live streaming to phones and tablets next year.
AFL is looking at operating there own AFL.com in the near future.
Both codes understand that eventually they will have to lock out the middle man which is Nine and Seven to make a tone of money in the future.
Broadcast rights are going to be a thing of the past in 30 years time imo.

1240million from its broadcast deal and the AFL has
868million left from its broadcast deal after paying handouts to these blackhole clubs.

Where do you get these numbers from. They are all wrong. The expansion will cost about 60 million in the next five years.Port lost 2 Melbourne just over one and the Suns claimed a small profit. It was declared that every league club apart from the Broncs loses money. They said it loud and clear at the press conferance. This was to get everyone prepared for the fact that the clubs will take nearly all the money you guys just recieved. As I said before if your going to put down some kind of contrived spread sheet then get it right.Buddy the AFL are still 100's of millions ahead, expanding, live and owned by the game.League can only dream.

AFL chief Andrew Demetriou reveals debt of all 18 clubs is the worst in competition's history

AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou has revealed the debt of the 18 clubs - understood to be more than $40 million - is the worst it has been in the competition's history.
Demetriou admitted the level of collective debt at club level had to be addressed as a matter of urgency, saying Port Adelaide was the club that worried him most.
"It is a real concern," he said this week in an exclusive interview with Sunday Herald Sun columnist Shane Crawford.
"The total debt of the clubs in the competition today is the highest it has ever been.
"We have flagged that this is a year of consolidation. We have brought in two new clubs, we have a CBA, we have done the broadcast deal, we have re-signed all our sponsors. We have done all our big deals.
"Now we have to look after the existing clubs and help them get some control over their debt."
The AFL will relay the actual figure to its clubs within the next week, but it is understood to be between $40 million and $50 million.
50 million debt from the clubs last year......mmmm yes AFL are all profitable...

Thats what Im talking about more money means theyll spend more money simple. The NRL are in the same boat but with a lot less to play with. You dont need to worry about AFL they are asset rich and cashed up.But the clubs will push it always same as NRL.So the point being made is was it better that you got cash so it can be eaten by the greedy or would it have been better to expose your game to new revenue streams.I think we all know the real answer to that.

You stupid donkey!
Theres nothing wrong with debt. We went over this at the time. The vast majority of debt in that report is for Collingwood, Hawthorn and Carlton, which are rolling in money. They cover the debt repayments easily. Its like saying people with a mortgage are broke!
Debt on its own bad you dumbarse. Its only bad if you cant make the repayments. You know, like making a loss each year. You know, like 15 of 16 NRL clubs.

The Giants - like all clubs - will continue to be subsidised by AFL headquarters. The chief executive, Andrew Demetriou, said the code's expansion with its 17th and 18th teams would cost $220 million.
While all clubs agreed to the introduction of the Gold Coast Suns and Giants, there is some agitation over how long the substantial handouts to the new clubs should continue.
It will be a long road for the AFL trust me on that, i live in the west of sydney and there is jack all interest or talk about the Giants...

30 years are you kidding it is happening right now and everything the AFL are doing is heading down that path. You can already get all AFL games on your tablet phone or TBOX.The next deal the AFL will have the power to tell the networks to shove it.Smart TV is the future buddy but it seems like most things the NRL are behind the 8 ball.
