Oh dear! They averaged 40k together! LOL

Even if a few fans drop off they will return when the team rises. Look at the warriers crowds. They went down to 30% from their first season, then doubled, then halved, then doubled. Expansion teams suffer the most from poor on field performances. It just so happens the majority of the AFLs expansion teams are performing poorly at the moment. This wont last, the salary cap and draft ensure it.

Their crowds dropped after the first year because the stadium was refitted.

Huh?

It's been refitted twice, once after they first started and not long ago getting ready for the vichy wc.

Fine, the majority of the NRL teams have drifted up and down in crowds significantly. What did people in Sydney and Brisbane suddenly lose their passion for RL or are crowds dependent on on field success like I am claiming?

Aside from the weather, RL doesn't have anything covered properly!

That's the funny thing though. The majority of the AFL teams in NSW and Qld are in a poor state on field. Their support will reflect this. Yet all we hear from NRL fans is how AFL is declining because the code is failing to expand. It's just rubbish. If all 4 sides were winning regularly and in the top 4 yet still struggling on tv and crowds I'd say fair enough. But the lions suns and giants could make up the bottom three this year. Of course their following will suffer accordingly. It would in AFL heartland as well.

So why don't you lot build good stadiums? Oh that's right. You don't have the money because you aren't getting enough people through the gates!

Oh come on! Weather and stadium conditions don't account for swings of 50% in attendance Over a season! Winning and losing does.

Hmm, yet that doesn't seem to be factored in for the decrease in crowds for the Swans during the SCG redevelopment. Surprise, surprise, hypocrisy from RL supporters.

yes ... & 10K of that 40 as I said gumby ... were bandwagoners thuns fans ... who don't look like they'll be back if the dire membership fall the thuns are seeing is any guide

as as for assurances that teams will rise .... I'm sorry but didn't the AFL give nearly all the draft preferences for the next few seasons to GWS & the Thuns
how the F are the Lions supposed to improve then ?

by the time the Thuns are going even half decent on the field ..... It'll be all but ova .. ship will have sailed .. a few **** sthn ex pats might still be intertested .. but the bulk of Gold Coasters won't wait
& GWS
they could be top 4 in 2013..... still won't make an ounce of difference .. of course they'll be bottom 4 for at least the next 5 years
they're doomed.
