AFL's average home and away attendance is steady at 36K and has been there every season since 2007. It has NEVER been higher and is not dropping. NRL's average home and away attendance is only 16K (below the Lions on 21K).

It's true that the Broncos and Canterbury have a higher average attendance this season than the Suns. But they are the only ones. The Broncos at 30K are behind 11 of the 17 AFL clubs (yes, the Lions are one of the six they are in front of), but Canterbury are only ahead of the Lions, the Suns and Port Adelaide - and are almost equal with their canine counterparts in Melbourne.

I call that the AFL winning and there's no other way one could possibly see that in reality.
AFL average was 37K last year

so it has been higher
it probably won't remain on 36K for this season .. probably down to the low 35K's

& will drop further next year .. cos the GWS will struggle to get a third of that average

Look again. Home and away attendances - not total including finals.

2011 is the 2nd lowest attendance ( so far ) of the last 5 years

All five years are each 36K. All five years are the highest in the history of the VFL/AFL. Give it up, Raider. You can't win an argument you've already lost.

Edit: Removed personal attack by Raider.

Oh dear, an NRL supporter wanting to debate AFL/NRL crowd numbers. Give it up Raider. Seriously, you can't win this. #-o

so getting back to what I said , that you denied

is 2011 the 2nd lowest there ?
yep

is 2010's nearly 37K ... not 36
yep

the average for the last 4 years prior to 2011
is 36,723

is this seasons average down on this number
ummm.... sure is 8-[

so Im right on all counts
well of course you are .. look who you're arguing with

Look at what you're saying yourself first. You are nit picking to avoid the big picture, and that's the sign of an argument lost. The stats speak for themselves. The average remains 36K and shows no sign of dropping down to NRL standards, which is what you were insinuating.

can you answer the question

is 2011 the 2nd lowest drawing year of the last 5 ... or not ?

my insinuation is the AFL average attendance is dropping
( & thats all I said , don't make claims i infered anything else )
I'm right .. it is
& will further in 2012.. thats an assumption yes , but a logical one

you can't deny I'm right on this one
don't distract .. or deflect from this point & anwser the question

I'm ignoring the question because it is based on a false premise - the assumption that AFL attendances are dropping in some major fashion. I say they are not because the last five years have all been better than any of the previous seasons. To ignore that fact is to deny reality.

I would have to say both Raider and TLPG are somewhat correct in this debate. The crowd numbers are dropping for the AFL but it doesnt look to be significant. Only time will tell whether they need to be seriously concerned.

Raider said it was dropping big time. It's not.
