According to
figure I just worked out, I'm pretty sure there right.
For the 5 capital cites only.
League states. 1 in every 299 thousand has a tv meter.
AFL states. 1 in every 293 thousand
For Regional areas.
League states. 1 in every 246 thousand
AFL 1 in every 244 thousand.
Despite the disadvantages Rugby League just keeps on winning gold

your excuses are becoming even more desperate. Now apparently OZTAM's figures are wrong, meaning the millions of advertising dollars paid to each network are based on dodgy numbers.pussycat wrote: Fri Sep 01, 2017 3:33 pmAccording to

Just accept it, the AFL is more popular on TV as proven by this year's complete whitewash.
What will your excuses be if you lose every final like last year pussy?

so give me a rough figure. How many NRL fans in Sydney and Brisbane are also AFL fans and will switch over to the last 40 minutes of the AFL? What do other RL fans on here think about this idea? How many are we talking?pussycat wrote: Fri Sep 01, 2017 7:33 pmYou Will, but that doesn't mean your not a loser!

The legends game was so serious one of the all star players had a kick at goal with his eyes closed! Yet it still outrated the NRL in metro markets!!!

So even with less matches, less tv meters we are still no1 on tv

Re: 2017 - Australian Football TV Ratings - AFL, AFL Womens etc (Rolling updates in OP)
ok, lets say Sydney have 240k audience for the NRL on Friday night. 1/3rd is 80k. These people watch the last 40 minutes of the AFL game which is 22% of the AFL's 3 hour telecast. 22% of 80k is and average of 17k for the full teleacast. Add Qld and the total using your theory would be around 30k extra viewers for the whole telecast.pussycat wrote: Sat Sep 02, 2017 10:18 amMaybe not a half but a good thirdNlolRL wrote: Sat Sep 02, 2017 7:50 amso give me a rough figure. So you think the AFL benefits an average of 30k by having their game shown for 40 minutes after the NRL finishes?
How many average viewers do you think the AFL loses by having:
1. a 3 hour telecast as opposed to a more beneficial average of 2?
2. a second half starting as late as 9.30pm which would cause some viewer drop off if the game was one-sided
3. and most importantly, a game starting before 6pm on a week night, against the news, and on a secondary digital channel in our second biggest market
Somehow I think these 3 points would be far more detrimental to our average than your absurd suggestion than 1/3rd of RL fans would switch over to the AFL at 9.45pm.

Re: 2017 - Australian Football TV Ratings - AFL, AFL Womens etc (Rolling updates in OP)
lets address this latest absurd claim. Your numbers would suggest the AFL metro markets have a 2% advantage, and 0.8% advantage in regional markets. This averages out to 1% advantage for all markets.pussycat wrote: Fri Sep 01, 2017 3:33 pmAccording to

League states. 1 in every 299 thousand has a tv meter.
AFL states. 1 in every 293 thousand
For Regional areas.
League states. 1 in every 246 thousand
AFL 1 in every 244 thousand.
In other words a game rating 800k FTA, which is about average on FN, would give us a whopping advantage of 8k. Wow, no wonder we are leading 25-4!

However, I would imagine OZTAM would use a certain number of meters in Melbourne and Sydney, and divide these by each markets populations. 100 meters in Melbourne for 4 million = 40,000 people per meter. Sydney's 100 meters (example only) for 4.5 million people = 45,000 per meter. Therefore for every meter watching NRL in Sydney OZTAM count 45,000 viewers. It basically balances out
To suggest these ratings are incorrectly estimated using such a mistake is just ridiculous given how much money is allocated via ratings.
